My son wore these briefs one time and the stitching came undone. LL Bean was good about it and took them back, but I can't recommend these to anyone.

Sadly, this might be my second return to Bean in 4 decades. I watched the video on the Sporthill site, I've been a Sporthill fan in the past.
These briefs, even the double material in the front panel pass wind as freely as cotton. You can see through the material when held up to a light. I wore these briefs under real windproof cycling pants in 38-44 degree weather and they did not perform as I would have expected. I would say they wick well. I felt cool in them, not warm, or protected.

My husband wanted to continue to ride during the winter but needed warmer gear. This fit the bill perfectly and provides the warmth he desired however after two washings it is coming apart at two seams.
He doesn't want to send them back because he wants to continue riding. For now I'll be resewing all the seams.
I would recommend to a friend who knows how to sew.

This is comfortable. Fabric is good quality. Windshield works well for long runs in sub-freezing temperatures. Longer runs and nordic skiing will test further.

I've worn these Sporthill Northwind Unders several times for downhill skiing and they were terrific. They're comfortable all day and in all conditions. They're great at keeping you dry and warm without any bulk, weight, or scratchy feeling.
