Loved the look in the catalog, loved it more when it arrived. Fit was good, a little big, but still very comfy. I like it that way. Can layer f I need to. Like the feel, soft and warm. Would buy again.

You might want to get two of these as they are so comfortable you wont want to wear any other shirt. You will need two, one to wear while the other is in the laundry.

Rated 3 out of 5 by ElectricGenie Good but very big
This shirt is well made of high-quality fabric. But it is HUGE. I am 5'10" and I weigh 165 lbs. The medium fit my chest (41") and arms, but I have very long arms (34.5"). The rest of the shirt was ridiculous, like a tent. No offense meant, but it would nicely fit a man who was significantly overweight. I have sadly concluded that LL Bean is not interested in selling clothing to men who are trim and fit. I spent $35 to have this shirt tailored so it would fit me. I won't be doing that again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by gkMOoutdoors Allagash still a winner
My old Allagash shirt finally wore out after more than 20 years of fairly rough outdoor use. I was glad to see L.L.Bean still carries them and ordered a new one which I've been wearing this autumn as the weather cools. I ordered my normal shirt size and it fits fine. The fabric feels like cotton flannel, but dries faster, and is warm like wool, but without the itch. The construction of this new shirt is high quality, and I have no doubt it will be as durable as my first one.

Rated 3 out of 5 by swick loved it, but sleeves much too long
It hurt me to return this shirt. Really. I loved the fabric--thin enough to wear indoors during winter, thick enough to wear outdoors as part of a layer system. I loved the traditional fit through the shoulders and torso. The neck was spot-on. The chest pockets are great. The cayenne color was just what I wanted.
Alas, the sleeves came down almost to my knuckles--and I don't have short arms. I bought a size L and that usually fits nicely--never had a sleeve problem before with a Bean shirt. Regretfully, I packed it up and sent it back for a refund. Bean--if you can shorten the sleeves so that they fit a normal person, I'll buy this shirt again in a heartbeat.

Bought this for my husband. He usually wears a tall in LL Bean shirts but this shirt is a bit oversized. Fits him well in the XL regular length. The Cayenne is a nice red color. Doesn't wrinkle and is a comfortable weight.

Looks nothing like the photos. Very disappointed. I didn't even take the shirts out of the packaging.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AlexLynn Five stars for sure !
Just received this shirt and it exceeds expectations. Very well made and looks great. The fabric is substantial and perfect for cooler weather. The double pockets are sure to come in handy and I'm glad I read other reviews about ordering down a size. The XL fits perfectly ( I'm 6 ')and I was almost ordering XXL tall which would undoubtedly be too large. This is the kind of quality I've come to expect from LL Bean. Very happy with this shirt..

Rated 4 out of 5 by Buzzing Beware others' sizing recommendations
Like this shirt! Ordered my usual Large in this-- and yes, while there is ample roominess in torso, it fits my shoulder width and arm length beautifully. If I had taken others' suggestion to order a size smaller, I would have had the hassle of returning that Medium for a Large! Let's call it "generously sized." Too, it is not a stretchy fabric, so you do not want it to be on the small-ish size.
Good winter shirt, and seems that it should be uncommonly durable, too.

I wear an XLarge and I got to say I don't know who makes these shirts for Bean but this is one big shirt! So I am hoping it will shrink some when washed. So buyer beware. Either gain weight or buy a size smaller than you normally wear.
