Rated 5 out of 5 by CarolCola Just the right weight for early spring
I have purchased two of these, one for our bed in Scotland & one for Florida. I have several duvets, but they tend to be too heavy & I hate wrestling with the covers. These are just right & if we need more warmth, we can just add a blanket underneath & they work well. I do tuck them in at the foot of the bed to keep them from 'wandering' all over the bed & they keep their loft quite well.

I had some reservations about ordering this because of the reviews I'd read about a crinkly sound - like a paper bag. I even sent a query to Customer Service. They were very aware of this, but also noted that there were other reviews that felt this wasn't an issue. Knowing there is a marvy return policy, I took the chance and ordered a king size in bay leaf to use as a bedspread for my queen size bed. Well, my advice to those concerned about crinkly noises is to definitely take it with a grain of salt. Being pretty tuned in to this possiblity, I did notice a very slight wooshing or sighing sound from the fabric, somewhat like a silk or satin. But nothing crinkly or paper bag like. It is a wonderful comforter; the weight is perfect. I have tucked it inside a ticking stripe comforter cover which gives a softer flannel covering without adding a lot of extra warmth. With an extra blanket, this comforter would be perfect year-round in most climates. It's a winner.

I ordered two of these: one in a solid color and one in what LL Bean is calling plaid in the blue multi-colored one. First, for the solid: it looked a little dark in the flag blue but I like blue and took a chance. What a pretty color. I'd call is French blue instead. Lovely. The plaid one to me is not plaid but overlapping squares in lighter and darker shades of the same color. The effect is more colorful patches almost. This multi-colored one has most primary colors in it so you do the math about fun blending of sheets with this. It is very pretty, contemporary looking bedding and changes how it looks in a room in a delightful way. I have been using fleece sheets and just ordered another color that will be so attractive with this. I am thinking of colors I could use that I haven't because of this pretty colorful but not gaudy looking comforter. The French blue, as I am calling it, will be also lovely to change off. I have tried other ultrasoft comforters/qualifil, using LL Bean's classification, and really really like how light but warm they are, how they lay nicely on the bed, easy to pull up in the morning, stay on the bed and don't feel like I have so much over me. I live in Alaska and had lots of "regular" comforters and got tired of their bulkiness and am so glad I tried these. The photo of the plaid one on the website does not do it justice. It is so much lovelier close up in real life. If you want a boost to a room, this could be it. I would also love to see these super comforters in a soft, subtle batik design to make them even more contemporary but I am a happy new owner of these two. Really, these are a very good value. LL Bean, you did it again. Good job.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Stormytlc Cover not the same!
I have purchased two of these comforters in the past and have had them for 10 plus years with no issues. I received this one for a Christmas present (12/2012) and already the cover has a small tear in it. The ones I had in the past, the thread were pulling apart but no tears in the fabric. I am very disappointed because I really like the warmth of this comforter and the color.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Mawa6 Noisy, but good quality
I loved the colors in this comforter, but it is noisy to sleep under. Sounds like a paper bag. But if that does not bother you, I think the actual quality and color of this is very nice.

When my husband and I bought a new bed we thought it was time to replace our 15-year old LL Bean comforter. After shopping at four department stores and one website, we tried out seven different bedding sets. They were catch and release. None of them had enough quality to last even half as long as the comforter we were replacing, and we were always disappointed in the weight and "bunchiness" of the comforters in the sets. Most of them were too heavy and warm, even for our cold Michigan winters.
Then it dawned on us: why not just get another one of the LLB's? Ta-dah! Delivery was very prompt and we were kept in the loop all the way. The box was even delivered wrapped in a plastic bag to protect it from snow.
We ordered the Bay Leaf color and found it true to the website photo. We've slept with it for nine nights now and are quite pleased with it. The warmth is just right because we like to keep our bedroom a bit coolish but be snug ourselves. We know from experience that the fill will not shift and the comforter will wash like a dream. We also got the Matelasse coverlet for summer and the matching shams for year 'round use, all in Bay Leaf too, so there's our bedding set. No catch and release!

My mother bought two of these comforters for my sons. One in bay leaf and one in navy. I love the weight. They are soft. Unfortunately, they are quite wrinkled. The color seemed inconsistant so I tried wahing and drying according to directions to no avail. I don't believe I can retun them at this point so we are using them, but they are not what I had hoped for.

My daughter loves this comforter. It is not loud like another review says it is. It washes perfect, is very warm and cozy! I will buy another for the spare bedroom!

I got this for my teenage daughter and her overnight guests. They're not so conscientious about the way they treat their bedding. It gets dragged all over the house, snacks get consumed on it, kids dance and play on it...it takes a lot of abuse! But it's held up very well. It washes and dries easily and looks good as new. The kids love to sleep under it--it's cozy, soft and warm but not too hot.

Rated 4 out of 5 by tiza Very nice but...
I love the comforter but there are a few issues as well. For one, I ordered the dark blue comforter and it is very light. The package said it was the dark color but it surely doesn't look it and as a result shows dirt easily and with two dogs on the bed it is not good. The other issue I have with it is that the blanket trim which looks so nice has begun to shred and I have only had it for four months and no more than two washings. It washes and dries well though naturally it will never look as beautiful as it did before the washings. I used Tide's spot cleaner on a couple of the spots and it took the color out in those places. The comforter is very warm and cozy and that is a big plus right now with the night temperatures so low. It is very roomy- no stinting on size nor did it shrink. I would recommend it but would check on color chosen.
