Rated 5 out of 5 by Corbett Fits after worn
When I first tried the penny loafers, they seemed way too small, but recalling a review read earlier, I decided to keep them on for a few hours, and see it the hand stitching did allow sufficient expansion. Fortunately, it did, and I have enjoyed wearing them since. Even today when first slipped on, they seem tight, but after a few minutes the fit seems perfect and I forget that I am wearing them. Also have received various favorable comments about their appearance. There is a slight tendency for the non-slip tread to grab on the carpet if I allow my toe to drag, a tendency I have noticed in other shoes as well. All in all, well satisfied.

Good insole padding, but noting there is a break-in period for these shoes for the comfort needed. Choose the Cordovan color for its versatility as it goes with brown, blue or black pants. Like the rubber sole for its quiet and non slip surface.

Rated 3 out of 5 by scriverdog comfortable classic loafer wears much too quickly
this shoe is a little stiff out of the box but breaks in nicely. they run true to size. my biggest disappointment is the soft material used for heel and sole wears much too quickly, reducing the overall value. with a once/week wear the heels only lasted a year and yet the uppers still look great. the heal and sole is a molded rubber material with no apparent way to be replaced making this shoe a throwaway .So while the upper is great the heel and sole material is disappointing and not up to Bean quality.

Rated 2 out of 5 by sweetj34 Look nice, better break them in
It has been quite some time since I purchased a nicer pair of shoes. These loafer look great and I suspect they will break in over time. Until then, wear two pairs of sock and have some bandages ready for your Achilles. They are rather brutal to start!

Rated 3 out of 5 by scvdeputy wrong sizing
The shoe appears to be well constructed and felt comfortable to stand in. However when I walked, the shoe would come off my heels as if I were wearing flip flops. I ordered a 10 1/2 wide. Same size as the leather mocs I purchased from LLBean. The mocs fit perfectly. The penny loafers felt as though the length was too long by probably a half inch or more. I pushed my foot back into the heel but after a few steps my foot was forward into the shoe for comfort there but then would come off the heel again. It just seems they are sized wrong. I had thought of going down one size in shoe but then it would need to probably be EXTRA wide which they don't carry. As mentioned the overall quality of the shoe looked and appeared great till I attempted to walk in them. Sent back to get a completely different style shoe after speaking with customer service about the sizing issue.

Shoes arrived and are well made. Comfortable to walk in. However, as others have reported, the heel area to instep is very wide. It feels like back half of shoe is a wide width and front of shoe regular width. I had slippage in the heel and returned.

The loafers are of high quality & fit well. The non-skid rubber soles make the shoes safer, & therefore perfect, for my elderly dad. He has worn them every day since trying them on!
The return process for another pair of shoes that were too large was an extremely easy one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by DrRas Use Caution When Ordering These Loafer
I ordered a pair of these LLBean rubber sole loafers in a 91/2 M (D) in order to have a pair that looked nice and could be worn in wet weather without sucking up the rain water as leather soles generally do. When I received the rubber-soled loafers I was hopeful. They looked nice and seemed to fit in the length. However, upon putting them on they immediately stretched out in the shank and heel. By an hour or so later they had stretched out to the point to where I felt as if I were wearing flip-flops. I don't have any particularly strange issues with fitting shoes, but these were clearly far too wide from the instep-area to the heel. I consequently returned them. A lesson learned the hard way since I'm now without the pair that I had hoped to wear and also $6.50 short in the pocket due to return postage fees.
