Rated 5 out of 5 by Desertdog1990 Great Penny Loafers
Love the new shoes! They were a bit stiff the first day but quickly settled down to be one of the most comfortable shoes I've ever had.
The rubber soles are wonderfull in icy weather and they look great too. Excellent buy!

Well made, comfortable and accurate sizing. The only dress shoes I would ever order online. I have two pairs and they will last for years.

This is the second pair of these I have owned. The last pair went fifteen years before I finally wore them out. In process of breaking them in now but it appears that nothing has changed from the original purchase. Still quality construction!

I ordered the wrong size and returned them to LLBean and they returned the size I needed, and the fit was excellent, The quality is what I would expect from LL Bean.I'm really happy I went for these Loafers.

Rated 3 out of 5 by KVacek No competition for a Sebago Sherman
I've worn the similar-looking Sebago Sherman for many years, but they were discontinued. They and LL Bean are both Maine companies, and I'd hoped that maybe Bean had contracted with Sebago to make these. I don't know about that, but sadly (for me anyway) these aren't the same shoes. To me, they have two flaws.
First, like the other couple of pairs of LL Bean shoes I've purchased in the past year, these are very narrow. I wear a 14 B - and I ordered 14 D. They're painfully narrow. The length might be OK, but it's certainly not generous.
Second - the soles. Most rubber soles nowadays are Vibram or a copy - grippy, long-wearing, and not overly thick. These seem to be more of a heavy-duty foam - like old Hush Puppies. So thick they look odd on a loafer, and yet they seem flimsy. I wonder if they'll last more than a couple of months. I won't wear leather soles - they're slippery and water soaks right in - but that's mostly what Bean offers.
Guess I'll try ordering some of the extra-wide ones and see how durable the soles are.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Tooshortnickname Didn't fit correctly
I've been wearing these Penny Loafers for over 30 years. I'm just throwing away my last pair that I've had for 23 years. The recent pair I purchased had the left one that was a little too tight and the right one was too loose. I returned them without a problem.

Rated 4 out of 5 by mkwalker Nice shoe but...
I bought these loafers for my husband. They are nice looking and seem well-made but he could not fit his orthotics in them so back they went. If the insoles were removable they probably would have worked with his orthotics.

My husband has owned a pair of these shoes for years but in black with a leather sole. Beautiful shoes but dangerous on ice. I bought these rubber soled shoes in cordovan for his July birthday. He loves them! So comfortable; nice enough for casual or dressy wear. And we are confident they will be better during winter ice.

This was my first time buying shoes on-line. I ordered my regular 9 1/2 regular width and I had to return because they were too tight. I re-ordered same size Wide, however these shoes are longer length. The right shoe being is lot larger then the left. I tried to manage wearing the shoes, but after wearing to work four times, both shoes stretched even more making them practically unwearable. However, as far as the quality of the shoes, I have not noticed any imperfections, other than the sizing. I did try other shoes at a local store, and was able to wear off-the-shelf regular 9 1/2.

Have purchased this style loafer and others from LL Bean in the past. Comfortable and stylish shoe at a good price.
