I wasn't going to write a review, but after wearing these boots for a couple of months I decided to write one.
These are great boots. Very solid construction. I have no complaints. I have worn them all day every day for several months and they have only gotten more comfortable. They were a good fit when I got them but as time went on the leather comfortably softened up. Highly recommend. I wonder if those who had poor experiences had the correct size... I can't really think of another reason.

Third pair in six years, each one as good as the last. I wear these boots on all types of surfaces all day every day. Outstanding boots, require very little break-in time. MADE IN USA

Rated 5 out of 5áby Doubles Exceptionally durable, always waterproof
As a Florida landscaper, my boots are the most important item I wear. They remain waterproof regardless of how much water I expose them to. I always own two pair at a time to alternate each work day. There is no other boot at any price that I have found which is better for my conditions. The waffle soles do pick up and carry dirt into the house if I fail to clean them before going in. Small price to pay for what I get.

Rated 5 out of 5áby ExMainier Great support for my ankles
During the first two or three wearings, the boots were stiff and hard on my ankles. However, that didn't last long. The boots then quickly conformed to the shape of my ankles and give them great support. I consider them the best boots I have ever worn.

They fitted well. The upper is of excellent quality. They are Goodyear welted. Downside for me was the fabric lining which developed holes after moderate wear over a few months. Boots of this quality should have a leather lining. I might have to try and cut it out. In short, an excellent pair of boots which is let down by the lining. If they had leather lining I could see them lasting 5-10 years. As it is I reckon I will get 1-2 years out of them.

My husband loves these boots! He hates buying footwear online but it's hard to find these types of boots (ie not hiking but not steel-toe work boots either) for working around the house like building our deck, burying the new electric line for the well, mowing/weed-eating, etch. He has rheumatoid arthritis with an especially bad ankle, which makes fitting shoes difficult, but these boots fit him very well. He's been wearing them alternate days, all day, and been very happy with them to the point of contemplating ordering the non-waterproof version for more variety. We ordered the regular size that he wears.

Rated 5 out of 5áby Namo Men's Katahdin Iron Work Boots, Waterproof
The best boots that I have ever owned. I've had many a trek into the Sonoran Desert. I've fished into snow melt waters in The Sierra Nevada's. The boots did what they were designed to do.
Unfortunately, the Grand Daughters play hide and seek and used our closet as a hiding place. They sat on the boots far too often. One boot toe cap was crushed. Try as I might, which included a trip to a cobbler, they never returned to factory specs. Unfortunately they couldn't be repaired.
They are well made, durable, and everlasting -- definitely the boot for an outdoors person.

Rated 5 out of 5áby zachtown Excellent Boot
I bought a pair of Katahdin boots a year ago and was immediately delighted by their quality. I grew up in boots - Redwings in Canada, Chippewas, etc., and I think I know a good boot when I see one. These boots exhibit quality materials, excellent stitching, and strong Vibram soles. I live in Colorado in a small town with dirt streets and trailheads at the edge of town. These boots see plenty of work/trail time. I am so happy with these boots I recently bought a second pair to keep as back-up. Highly recommend.

I bought this boot when they made it in a taller version. I've had it for over 8 years. Original bought it so wear when shoveling snow in the NE but now have moved to the south. Just today, while I was cutting my grass I stepped on a nail. I felt that there was a rock/pepple in my boot but could not figure out how that could have happened since my boots are much taller than these.
Well when I lifted my foot to check it, I saw a nail sticking out of the bottom. After 8 years - these boots are no joke. The nail did not even make it to my foot. Awesome.

Rated 1 out of 5áby MDShovel I had to return them. :-(
I've worn the original Katahdin Iron Works Boots for several years. They're great shoes and like them very much, but I found that the leather across the toe would fail at the stitching. I tried this waterproof version because they have a solid toe.
The foot portion of the boot is immediately comfortable. However, the uppers have a design flaw in that the lacing studs and tongue are too broad and the interior row lines up with the inside ankle-bone. I fussed with them for a week trying to get a lacing configuration that wouldn't be painful, but all I got was very sore ankles. The tongue should be flatter or more narrow, and the laces should come closer together so that they rest on the front of the foot. They'll then protect the ankle bone instead of riding on top of it. Other reviewers have noted the same thing and I think a redesign is necessary. I don't wish to be harsh, but it seems like a pretty basic element of shoe design.
