Rated 5 out of 5 by OutdoorsFreak Great coat!
This field jacket is a great addition to any closet. The PrimaLoft Liner is very warm but light-weight, and the waxed-cotton shell is very durable. It sheds rain and snow very well, and is very breathable. The buttons are nice, but the coat could definitely benefit from having a zipper too, as well as the buttons. The zipper would help close the coat tighter, than the buttons, adding to the coats' warmth.
Overall, a great coat!

Rated 4 out of 5 by paulkk -25, that 25 below zero !!
It's a nice jacket/coat but who in the world would even consider it to be comfortable at -25 degrees?
It has to be a mistake or it was written up by the guy who lives in the Florida Keys

Rated 3 out of 5 by Androscoggin Beware! Beware! Beware!
I've had this coat for several years (in the discontinued maroon color, too bad about that#. I'd give it 5 stars, except the rating is ridiculous -- this is a nice fall coat #in south-central Maine, Oct-Nov temps in the 20s and 30#.
Twenty-Five Below? You've got to be kidding! Okay -- maybe if you're wearing thermal underwear and a thinsulate something under the coat. But seriously? I don't know any Mainahs who do that.
I am very pleased with this, for what it is: A walk in the woods or a football game in October or November. But again, -25 below? Come on!
For 20 above to zero F, I have a Warden's Parka. Love it, five Stars. For zero to 40-50 below #we do get there, rarely). the Baxter State Parka. Five stars!
So my three stars is based on what I believe is a grossly inaccurate temperature rating -- for a nice warm coat on seasonably cold autumn days and nights, I'd give this 5 stars.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Beanwearer62 Climate rating is way off
I've owned a couple of these jackets and the climate rating is way off. If you wear this jacket in temps under 25 degrees, you will freeze. The liner prim-aloft fails to overlap at the buttons and as a result cold air flows through. I can't imagine wearing this in 10 degree temps, regardless of my activity level. It's a great fall jacket, but if you need a winter jacket, look elsewhere.

Rated 4 out of 5 by SKfromPA Nice Traditional Work Jacket.
Very good work jacket. Excellent, practical styling. Recommended. Improvements would be to add an inside pocket; and a small round plastic "backer" on the inside of the jacket, where each of the main front buttons are attached (sewn on). This would strengthen the button attachment.

Rated 3 out of 5 by MrPersnickety Warmer Than I Thought
I must admit, this PrimaLoft lined coat is much warmer than I thought it would be. It is not bulky and has great freedom of movement. But, I believe the coat would benefit from a zipper under the button flap. This would seal out the cold while leaving the traditional buttoned barn coat look.
The rear hem of the liner needs to button or snap to the coat since it bunches and rides up when you put the coat on, The flannel facing of the liner is good looking but does not glide. I have a bad shoulder, and reaching up behind me to pull the liner down (each time I put it on) is painful. I find the coat fabric a bit too "soft" for my tastes in a chore coat. A heavier, harder finished fabric would improve the impression of overall quality.
Since composing this review, I have had a zipper added ($20) and a couple of buttons and loops added to the bottom of the lining ($5), and find the coat snug and comfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by mom23gsd We LOVE this coat!
The time has finally come to retire my husband's old LL Bean Field Coat. I'm so glad that it's still a staple of your line. I don't know what he would buy if it wasn't available. He wore it for everything when it was new. Now that it's old he only wears it for dirty tasks. It?s warm & durable. When another button came off the other day (along with some fabric) I knew it was time to retire the old coat. I'm sure he'll still wear it for another year or so for dirty jobs so his new coat stays nice for a while. Thank you LL Bean, this coat is a great, durable & warm coat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Piranha Good looking, good quality
Good quality, classic field coat. Very practical for almost three season use with button out lining.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Armyguy Warm with out being heavy.
I replaced an older jacket with this one, I was skeptical about it's warmth because it was substantially lighter than the one I replaced. Surprisingly and happily I am impressed in the warmth it provides.

Rated 5 out of 5 by chefjms I love this coat
This is the third one of these that I've bought. I wear them year round and, as a result, I wear them out. I am so glad this this is a staple at LL Bean.
