Rated 5 out of 5 by weekenderINva A new favorite shirt!
This is a great shirt! A true classic. Comfortable at a wide range of temperatures whether out winter camping or just around the house! Thanks for a new favorite! You know the shirt that you just keep going back to time after time.

This shirt fit very well until washed. I can't believe how it shrunk. Am trying to stretch it back out. Everything else is great, but it doesn't fit after a couple washings.

I own 3 of these shirts, purchased over a period of years. The first 2 were excellent. They have worn well, and still feel great. The most recent one (Nov 2013) has already worn thru at the elbow. Also, the material does not feel nearly as luxurious. I wonder if there is a new supplier. I'm afraid to ask for an exchange, in case I get another of the same poor quality. I'm asking for a refund.

Rated 4 out of 5 by WALL5 This Shirt Is Build To Last and To Work!
Just received my very first chamois shirt in burgundy and it's instantly becomes one of my favourite autumn/ winter wardrobe essential. I ordered the shirt in small and it fits me perfectly. I usually wear jackets in size 36.
This shirt looks so tough, tough enough you can wear it for outdoor activities. Yet, this shirt looks great for casual walks in downtowns.
The colour is slightly lighter than in the picture, but still tolerable. The only downside of this shirt is the length, which I found a little too long if worn untucked. I'm 5"11 tall.
I am looking forward to collect all colours (of course with my monogram) to match my LL.Bean tote bags, which I love!
Again, an LL.Bean icon never fails to please me!

by VintageSportsman Finally, the perfect fit
I'm a big fan of vintage hunting apparel. I've always loved the LL Bean Chamois, but unless it was an older vintage one that would cost an arm and a leg, it would generally fit too large, even at a size small. I noticed they made a run of XS chamois that I could only find online so I decided to give it a shot. The fit on the XS is excellent. It's on par with a traditional vintage fit S and it has a flattering cut. The reason why I have to look into vintage hunting apparel is because it fits well. I really wish there was more color options for the XS, I hope they keep making them in that size. Highly recommended.

Rated 3 out of 5 by conscientiousshopper NOT His favorite shirt
Am writing this review for my husband. As far as work shirts go, we are buying elsewhere now. He will continue to wear this shirt, only not for work. He has always hated the flaps on the pockets as they are inconvenient for getting things in and out of pockets. He also hates the small buttons. His hands are big and it's difficult to handle them. It's a shame because now he's wearing the shirts I purchased from a competitor and loves them. Apparently small details make a big difference.

We have bought these shirts for 5 or 6 years. They last forever and the warmth of the material is excellent. They launder very well and I find most stains are easy to remove. I have recommended these shirts to our friends and family. These are the best shirts I have ever purchased.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Spouseofcustomer Material quality slipping
Please note that I am writing this review on my wife's customer account. This is my first review. I was so disappointed recently that I had to write this. I have been buying LL Bean Chamois shirts for over 30 years. I still have at least one from each of the last 3 decades. I will tell you that the stitching and design have remained the same. Unfortunately, what has changed is the amount of fabric and the thickness of the fabric especially in the last several years. The chamois is getting thinner shirt tail length is getting shorter. I have to buy a tall to get the same shirt tail length as I used to get with regular. I have one that I bought in the last year that is half as thick and the lowest button is at my belly button. I do not call this a long shirt tail. Overall, I still want to love LL Bean, but with the the quality issues as described above also occurring with my pima polos and fleece jackets, I may need to start looking at other retailers for the first time in over 30 years.

Rated 3 out of 5 by mrmarblerye High quality shirt, so-so fit, no consistency
I love the classic style of the Bean shirt and was looking for something versatile and durable. One of the two Bean shirts I just received fits the bill perfectly (at least it seems to for now). The other one is a mess.
I tend to fall between a small and a medium in most SMLXL shirts (depending on the cut) and after reading the reviews here and elsewhere I decided it was best to bracket my selection and order the Bean shirt in both sizes to see which one fits best. I ordered a small and a medium in Charcoal Gray Heather. When they arrived I was amazed to see the difference... in almost every aspect of the shirt... almost as if they were from two different brands.
When I first pulled it out of the bag the size small shirt was exactly what I expected. The color was rich, the fabric was thick and soft, and the construction was flawless; sturdy and without any visible imperfections. It's really rare these days not to find a loose thread or an uneven seam, but this shirt really appeared to be (and still appears to be) perfectly crafted. The buttons and the stitching are impressive. The fit is unfortunately not so impressive. It was, to be honest, pretty much what I expected fit-wise... good in the shoulders, a bit billowy in the middle, and short in the sleeves. While I didn't expect the sleeves to be as billowy as they are, the biggest issue is sleeve length. It's bordering on too short right out of the bag. I could understand it if the shirt was short all around, but it's not. The tail of the shirt is quite long and could easily handle shrinking a bit without affecting the function of the shirt, but with the sleeves, I know I'll have to wash the shirt in cold water and never let it near a dryer if I want the cuffs even close to my wrists. It's a beautiful shirt though, so it's the keeper.
Then I pulled out the medium... wow what a difference. The color was at least 2 shades lighter and looked faded rather than an intentional color choice. The fabric was stiffer and coarser than the size small shirt and appeared to be a lighter weight altogether. Laying the two shirts side-by-side, the medium looked like a cheap knock-off.
The sizing on the medium was flat out ridiculous. It was slightly larger in the shoulders and neck, more roomy in the torso and maybe an inch longer in the sleeves, but big enough in the middle it could have been double-breasted! My wife just laughed when I tried it on and joked that we could wear it together. I want to be able to layer with this shirt, but I bet I could wear a down parka under it and still have room. Needless to say this shirt is on it's way back to Bean as I type.
So bottom line... I am very impressed with the shirt I kept and I believe it will last a long time. I wish it fit better, but that doesn't detract from the quality of the shirt. I hope Bean can get it's quality control in order and offer better consistency across the line. If I had ordered only the size medium, I would be one very unhappy customer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by WelshTerrierFan Great shirts
I have bought a number of these shirts for gifts and for my husband over the years, everyone loves them. They are a nice weight and very warm, I have one myself! Nice colors, wash in cold water, they do fade out some over time, but well worth the money. True to size and do not shrink!
