Rated 5 out of 5 by wantagoodfit comfy, soft, good fit
My Bean's mock is all I expected and more. The fabric is soft, length of arms is perfect and the neck is not too tight. It washes like a dream and is well made.

Rated 5 out of 5 by begarz Fits me perfectly!
Couldn't believe when I tried this on that it fit perfectly! I am 5 ft.3 in, 112 pounds and even petites are often too large and too long on me.
The fit is perfect... not too tight or loose, the length is perfect...... and the biggest shock?
The sleeve length is perfect! Only problem is most of the small petite colors are sold out. I have one in white and today ordered another in the lilac color and one in the cream. More colors back in stock please LL Bean!!!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by LifetimeExplorer Great item for layering with sweater or fleece top
I have the mock turtleneck in ivory and elderberry and love them both. I'm 5'6 and 1/2, medium build and take a medium, which fits me beautifully. They're the right sleeve and overall length, and I don't have any trouble with the neck, as some other reviewers complain. They're a perfect weight for layering under a fleece, sweater, or jacket on days when extra warmth isn't needed or when indoors.

Rated 2 out of 5 by saxlady15 Not the product it used to be
Have to agree with many others..this product is not as it used to be. I am average size, 128 lbs. and 5'5 1/2" tall. These mock neck tees used to fit perfectly but now the neck is way large for me....by about 2" or more. The weight of the material used to be lighter and more adaptable to wearing under sweaters, sweatshirts, etc. I would still buy the heavier weight if the neck were not so large. I have not experienced shrinking but since I always buy navy or black, I wash in cold water.

Rated 1 out of 5 by easilypleased Something changed necks too wide and shrinkage.
I suggest you break your review conclusions into years. In 2008 they were fairly positive. Compare that to 2012. I haven't looked at 2013 yet but I am thinking you will see a trend downward. The necks are wider by measurement 2 inches. That is enough to give the appearance of a medical wrap of some kind. There are a number of complaints of shrinkage. My coupons are becoming meaningless if
the quality of LLBean products continue to deteriorate. This was my go to place for years. What happened. You can claim 4 and 5 star ratings but if most were five years ago it's not valid.

This item shrunk lengthwise by several inches after drying in the dryer, even at a low temperature as indicated on the care tag. I can only wear it under a sweater or shirt now, it can no longer be worn alone. Very disappointing as I liked it before I washed it.

I've purchased Bean shirts for years. In the last several years something has changed. The mock T-necks I purchased during this period are getting smaller with each wash. The body will no long tuck in. The sleeves are way to short now. I am really disappointed! Bean has always been The Best. Somebody goofed on this one.

The writing in the back of the neck on the fabric instead of a tag becomes scratchy and very irritating. I will not be buying any more of these shirts and will be returning those that I have. :(

I received this mock - turtle in dark carnberry for Christmas. The fit is great. I wear an XS petite. The length of the shirt and of the sleeves are perfect for me. The dark cranberry material is very soft and has kept both it's shape and color after washing and machine drying. I have been a fan of these mocks for years----they never seem to wear out. And, I am extremely pleased that LL BEAN has made them available in petite sizes.

For years, these were my "go-to" turtlenecks--had at least 4 in black, plus others in colors. As the old ones wore out, I started to replace them. Unfortunately, those produced during the last couple of years bear little resemblance to the old ones. Sleeves are too short and shrink, it seems, with every wash. The last time I bought one of these, I got S instead of XS. Sleeve length is almost long enough, but the neck is ridiculously large. Looks like I'll have to find another source for good cotton (mock) turtlenecks.
