I love this peacoat! It's deceivingly warm; most people ask if I'm chilly wearing it but I never am. It's hard to find a coat that is warm and attractive but I think this one does it. I wear it everyday it is cold but not snowing out, as it is not waterproof.

Rated 5 out of 5 by jelliestar Nice classic spring coat
I'd like to give this coat 4.5 stars, but since that's not an option, I'm happy to round up. This coat is beautiful, and very well made. It's worlds above some of its competitors for coats in this price point. The wool is soft enough to be worn against sensitive skin. The stitching is strong. The buttons feel very secure. The pockets are roomy. As some reviewers have noted, the fit is a tad bit boxy, but I still find it to be a feminine fit. The looseness in the abdomen section gives me layering options, so I'm fine with it. It's not as light as down, but it's weight isn't noticeable once it's on.
The coat is very, very warm. I went for a walk in it today in 32-ish degrees, wearing a button up, a light sweater, the coat and a scarf. After walking for 20 minutes, I had to take the scarf off. WARM.
Two points that could be a drawback for some:
1) The sleeves are too short for me. I'm used to sleeves being a bit short (I'm 5'8" and a size 2/4), but these are above my wrist bone. I'm taking the coat to a tailor to get the sleeves let out as much as possible, but there's not enough fabric there to get the sleeves to my thumb knuckle where they ought to be. Not a deal breaker for me, but it might be for women who have longer arms than I have.
2) I got the color "stone," which is a beautiful shade of gray... in most lights. In certain lights, it has just a hint of lavender. It's not a lavender coat, but if you hold it up next to another true-gray fabric, the lavender tint shows. This also isn't a deal breaker for me - in fact, I happen to like the color very much - but it wasn't what I was expecting. Just a heads up.
All in all, I really like this coat. I was looking for a warm alternative to my closet full of black coats, and I think I've found it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by oogieboogie123 Great coat
I am 5 ft 4 inches weigh 150 and have 38d bust size. I ordered the pea coat in a size 14 pacific blue. I wanted a pea coat that wasn't so form fitting which that is how all of them are so I went up a size and this coat fits really well. There had been mention about no pockets they are there you just have to snip the thread. If you do not like the form fitting style of the pea coat but need more room go up a size. The coat looks great it is very warm and just what I wanted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AuntDelilah Finally found a size 20
I was thrilled to find a size 20. It fits me much better than a 1X. I hope you will carry more items in size 20. I love this coat. I love wool. It keeps you so much warmer than a synthetic fabric. I also own the long polo coat in wool and it is beautiful. [also a size 20!!]

Rated 4 out of 5 by AnnefromCanada Matter of size
I had to return this because of the sizing. I am 5'9" and 155. I purchased a size 12 and it was way too big for me. It was also not as fitted as the reviews would suggest, so I decided against exchanging for a size 10. Others have noted that it is somewhat boxy and not flattering and I would agree with this. As for the quality I would agree with the positive reviews - it is a beautiful jacket, very warm and reasonably priced. I ended purchasing a Peacoat from a local store and paid much more for one of equal quality (but without the warm lining).

Rated 1 out of 5 by Schnauzerhaus Fabric pilled horribly after 6 wearings..so sad!
The fit was beautiful, as was the color (stone). Sadly and to my tremendous disappointment, the fabric pilled quite noticeably after about six wearings - and those wearings were not harsh in the least. The pilling occurred around the pocket entry areas, wrists, and where my car's seat belt hit on the left upper arm, i.e., areas where additional "wear and tear" is absolutely expected.
I hope LL Bean re-works this item, and chooses a wool blend that includes more nylon. Nylon is famous for adding to the longevity of wool & cashmere blends. I am returning this today for a refund, and am glad of LL Bean's customer-oriented return policy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by gailr97 Smart coat for cold weather
I was looking for a warm but smart coat for a (cold) city visit. This ticks all the boxes. Very warm, very smart. I did go up a size in order to accommodate heavier winter clothing. I bought the Pacific Blue - great colour, and with a scarf to match I feel all set.

I ordered the peacock color and I love it. I approve of the quality of the coat as well. Excellently packed for protection during shipping.

Rated 4 out of 5 by PetiteStyle Gorgeous coat; need smaller petite sizes!
This is a beautiful, high-quality coat . I ordered the Pacific Blue and the color is gorgeous. I really wanted to keep it. However, I ordered a Petite 4 and it was too big. It was roomier than I'd like and the arms were too long. I wish it was available in a Petite 2. I am 5'3" and about 112 lbs. (I usually order Petite XS from L.L. Bean.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by BeansRegular Beautiful Warmth and Classy too!
I have tried on previous versions of Bean's wool jackets and was not happy with the feel of the wool and the boxiness of the fit.
This year, I tried again and to my delight, both factors have greatly improved. The lambswool fabric is lusciously soft and thick with not a trace of itchiness ( and I am wool sensitive). I bought the Stone color, which is more attractive than the online picture, and it's a lovely dark ivory to very light khaki color--very good at lighting up my face on dreary winter days. It is standing up well so far against dirt. The addition of side panels, which create enough waist shaping to not appear boxy, is very welcome. The construction and tailoring are very high quality--truly a 'Best of the Beans'. My very fussy family thought that the coat looked very attractive and very youthful (without being trendy).
I purchased the coat in my normal size 4 and it fits perfectly over mid to thicker sweaters. The sleeve length is perfect on me, but I have long arms (and bigger shoulders from years of weight-training), so there should be no need to size up for body room or sleeve length.
The coat is dense but not heavy when worn. It feels wonderfully warm due to the thick wool and the thinsulate quilted lining adds yet another layer of comfortable warmth to keep the chill off. I have worn this coat and been warm in below zero temps, with a midweight wool-combo sweater underneath.
This coat is elegant enough for a night out and classy enough to wear to management level work. It also fits in nicely for (non-messy) daily errands. I expect to have many years of comfort and style from this great LLBean coat. I recommend this highly to anyone who wants style and warmth. Now I just need to keep it away from my young adult daughter!
