Rated 4 out of 5 by NorthGuy Looks great but has durability problems
I've bought a number of the pinpoint oxford cloth shirts. Beautiful fabric and they look good right out of the dryer. Very well made. But every one I've bought has had durability problems. After about nine months of wash and wear they start to come apart. The first place to go is the fabric at the cuffs. The fabric on the sleeves seems to disintegrate right where the cuffs are sewn on. First, there will be small holes at the pleats and these holes turn into long tears along the seam. They look like they've been razor-bladed.
Assuming the cuffs are not too far gone, the next thing to go are the sleeves. Right on the crease the fabric disintegrates just as though someone cut it with a razor blade. I don't know if its some chemical used for the no-iron finish, or what. But it's happened to every one of these shirts that I've bought. LL Bean is always very good about replacing them for free, but the replacements do just as poorly. I do wish they'd last longer. And I can't in good conscience expect Bean to always replace them for free -- no shirt lasts forever -- so I usually buy replacements after Bean replaces them free twice.
On the plus side, you don't have to worry about them getting frayed because they don't last long enough.

I love these shirts; easy to care for, good fit. My only complaint is if you wear a tie with these shirts there is a tag on the collar that becomes itchy and irritating. The tag serves no purpose, it should be eliminated for better comfort.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Bobsixtysix Best shirt I've ever worn...turns heads!
Try it just once you'll find yourself doing like I do ...... keep on adding to my collection. My only criticism is LLBean should add the color pink, lavender, lilac and bright plaid colors.. etc to this Classic Dress Shirt and also make all colors available in "slightly fitted". I'll purchase every new color you manufacture.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Boxcar6 Still the best fit
I've had several of these over the years and they're my favorite out of any brand and still fit the best. I'm 6'3"/220 lbs and the 16 1/2 / 36 shirts fit like a custom shirt. The added length is comparable to to the tall sizes and very much appreciated.
I like to look as sharp as possible in the solid colors, so I have them dry cleaned. Even when I'm in a time crunch and wash and dry them myself, they come out looking great to wear.
As for the collar rolling, all I suggest is that you UNBOTTON the collar buttons before washing, fold the collar down when you pull them out of the dryer and hang them up, and then button the collar when you put it on....I've never had any issues with any Bean shirt using this method.

I tend to agree with other recent posters.....This business of the collars "rolling up" not staying in the original lines of the fold is a real downer for me....Only started in my last two orders of these shirts....
Not working for me anymore, I'm now looking at department store brands for relief.
I hope you resolve this issue, as the shirts as I remember them were excellent in quality and value......

Rated 2 out of 5 by Century25 General quality decline
Along with other reviewers, I have had issues with the collars and sleeves on these shirts wearing out on the crease, holes developing in odd spots on the collars and with one shirt the fabric shredding along the shoulder. I thought it was just me...I purchase from LL Bean exclusively. On all my recent purchases of wrinkle resistant button down shirts I also am having an additional problem. The collars seem to roll up, They don't lay flat. The best way to describe the problem is if I were to wear a tie, you would see a good portion the tie peaking from under the collar if you were standing behind me. I spend a good portion of my dressing time trying to get these collars to lay where they should.
Becoming disillusioned with the quality of LL Bean shirts generally.

Rated 2 out of 5 by AdamH Collars wear much too quickly
I have had the same experience as so many other reviewers: the crease of the collar wears out too quickly. I have four of these shirts in blue and each one of them has worn out to the point where I can't wear them anymore. I bought two roughly a year ago and the other two about six months ago. I wear each shirt no more than once per week, wash them in the normal cotton cycle, and tumble dry on medium heat.
Keep in mind, any dress shirt collar will eventually wear out from the laundering process. I have had the collars of other brands wear out, just not as quickly as the LL Bean shirts.
On the good side (ie. the reason why I am not giving the shirts one star), these shirts have the best wrinkle free treatment out of any I have owned. They look great right out of the dryer, even better than more expensive shirts.
I called LL Bean about exchanging the shirts, and it sounded like they are aware of the problem and will be willing to give me new shirts.
I would recommend these shirts to a friend and I will continue to buy them myself based on the superior wrinkle treatment. However, I hope that LL Bean can do something to make them last longer.

I just ordered my 17th Wrinkle-Resistant Pinpoint Oxford Cloth Shirt. They wear well and look great wash after wash and still come out of the dryer ready to wear. My favorite quality is I have yet to wear one out. The only reason I have had to order more was due to the ink stains in the pocket.
Thank you again LL Bean for another quality product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by haybren Best shirt for the money!
Don't let the price of LL.Bean's wrinkle resistant shirts stop you from purchasing one. I am a tall man and not "slim" and the sleeve and neck sized shirts are top notch! I have been buying these for YEARS and have only had to replace two! One was from a stain and one was for a crease rip. There are some in the closet that are 10 - 12 years old and look as good as the day they were ordered. I've never put an iron on any of them but I'm diligent about getting them out of the dryer hot and hanging them immediately. The problem now is I own all the colors and patterns!
