Rated 4 out of 5 by LanieC My most favorite jacket ever
I love this jacket. It completely cuts the wind. It keep you warm but not overheated. When it's really chilly I put a sweater on underneath. It also repels that rain.
I did not give it five stars only because it attracts my white dogs fur and is impossible to remove even washing and the sticky roller. But I have just ordered another in a lighter color. Now I can never get a black dog!

I really wanted to love this, but I just can't. Although the fit is fine, thanks for making a fleece that you can wear over regular clothes, the fabric is just awful. The hood is so stiff that it stands way out from my head. So, it will keep the elements away, except those that can get in through the open spaces...
I really wish Beanwould bring back some of the great fleeces they used to have that had elastic at the cuffs and bottom and you could wear as a jacket. It feels like they have just gone cheap.

I really like this jacket so far. It is very comfortable and I really like the hood. It seems like good quality. I was surprised by the color. I chose the green. It is bright lime green! Not the softer green I was expecting. I really wish they had more choices of colors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by smkhaury Best light jacket ever
It is thin, yet warm, and it breathes. The hood is very functional, and the pockets are equally good for warming your hands or carrying your keys, (they have zippers for security).
It is perfect for spring, fall, cool summer evenings, boat trips, camping, you name it! The material it is made of is almost miraculous!
My only beef is that the colors are so limited. I would LOVE to have this in pure white, to go with all my summer outfits, and pastels would be great also, especially if there were no contrast piping.
When this jacket is solid colored it looks nice enough to wear with a skirt or even a dress. I wore my black one to church today.
This jacket is the most used item in my entire wardrobe! It also washes well and looks good for years.

This jacket is exactly what I wanted! It blocks the wind, is warm and has a cozy hood. The bright green with navy trim is pretty and just what I expected. It's roomy, leaving a lot of layering space and yet the sleeves are just right in length for me. Wore it at the beach and it was ideal for the cool, windy weather on the Pacific NW coast.

Seemed like I never took off the black one I got a year ago, which still looks new. Got a second in a different color. Warm, windproof, casual alternative to a business blazer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Montanabeanfan REALLY BLOCKS WIND!
Of my MANY light weight coats and fleece jackets, this Wind Challenger is the BEST for blocking the wind. I live in one of the top 5 windiest places in the USA so I am fighting wind all the time. I am 5'4" 150 lbs. with a 38D chest so I wear a large. It's roomy enough for a sweater underneath, but is still OK with just a turtleneck. People who said it's stiff -- hey, that's the whole point -- this is a performance jacket, not a little cuddly fleecy sweater. Not warm? Again, this isn't meant to be a winter coat (that's why you buy the LL Bean Ridge Parka!). This coat keeps the wind out on a chilly to moderately cold day (20-60 degrees). It's great for going on walks, running to the grocery store, playing outside with kids or dogs, or as a layering piece on a hike. I also love the hood, pockets, and ability to tighten at the bottom, and that it repels water (even thought it's NOT a rain coat).

Rated 5 out of 5 by NeedToLookProfl Great for windy, chilly conditions
I love this jacket! Light enough to wear indoors; heavy enough for outside esp. when windy. Fabric is "a little stiff" as some reviewers noted, not typical soft hand of regular fleece, because of the windbloc membrane. But that stuff really does work, and very much worth the trade-off. Long enough in overall garment length (where some Bean tops are on the short side) as well as long enough in the sleeves. Simple & classy enough styling that I can wear as a jacket to work on casual days. My only beef: about an inch of the top-stitching on the place where sleeve meets cuff elastic came loose, but easily enough repaired with a few stitches. Has held up to a number of washings over nearly a year, still looks new.

Rated 3 out of 5 by MJPS Runs small, short in body length and sleeves
I normally wear a medium but went with the large for layering purposes. The width was okay, but length of jacket and sleeve length too short. I am on the medium tall side, so this jacket would work for short to regular height people. I might try the men's jacket, since there is no tall in this jacket. Also, the fabric is stiff, haven't tested the warmness, but that looks fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by PossumLady Exceeded my expectations
I've lived in Florida for the last 60 years and I get cold watching snow on TV. My husband and I are full-time RVers and get into all kinds of weather, but because of space and weight limits, don't carry my bulky cold weather clothes. This jacket is what I've been looking for - the fabric is not bulky, the jacket is a bit large, which makes it perfect to put several lightweight layers beneath, and it does an admirable job blocking the wind. It's a jacket I wear from 20? to 60? with varying layers. I also bought the matching gloves which I wear with and without liners and love them as well.
