Terrific coat. Warm, water proof, comfortable, fits perfectly with our without underlayer, great size, number and convenient locations of pockets, two-way zipper works easily, typical great LL Bean quality and value; absolutely no complaints.

I am a regular LL Bean customer and used to high quality Bean merchandise. However, I think this item got past the buyers.
This is a warm coat and good value. Moreover, the pockets are very handy and convenient.
This jacket is very heavy, rigid and feels like your wearing a straight jacket-- not soft and comfortable. Moreover, the material is very drab and not very fashionable-- looks almost like a garment you would find inside an institution. Also, all of the complaints regarding the hard to close zipper are true-- I tired repeatedly to close the coat and had major difficulties-Last but not least-- this jacket attracts lint like no other-- if you have pets, you will find that lint an pet hair will have to be removed very regularly.
I like the concept of the coat, I just wish that Bean used better materials, which were soft, light and warm-- please jazz up the next version!

Rated 5 out of 5 by jbmbaa Exactly What I Want
It's good-looking enough to wear to the office. It's long enough to cover a sport jacket or suit coat. It's plenty warm enough (it was 8 below zero last night.) Some reviewers say it's too "heavy". Not true. Plenty of pockets. Very heavy-duty zipper. It's exactly what I need for Maine winters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by weilly Very Warm, Great Looking & High Quality
I have been looking for a well fitting, toasty warm and functional winter coat. I have found the L.L. bean Nor'easter coat to have all these qualities. I have worn it many mornings this December where the temperatures have been in single digits and it has kept me toasty warm. Great choice and a great coat. I wish I had owned this coat a few years ago. I know I would have been more comfortable if I had.

Gortex is all that my husband wants to wear. I bought this coat to replace one that finally wore out. It is a good replacement. Thank you!

Rated 3 out of 5 by bass1600 Good warm coat!
I was going to get another Baxter State (would have been #4) but I did not like the look of the new exterior fabric. The Nor'easter is really nice, but I find it bulkier than I expected and a bit difficult to get the zipper started. Good for being outdoors but bulky for driving.

Rated 5 out of 5 by haphaphappy Great, warm jacket
This is a great jacket. Very warm and comfortable, even in sub-zero weather. I looked at many stores but could not find anything comparable. Despite its warmth, it is light weight. I bought the longer version last winter and was so happy with it that I bought the jacket this year for my son. Some people complained about the zipper, but I've never experienced any problems. I am 6 feet tall and weigh 185 lbs. I bought the XL regular and find it quite roomy and comfortable. My son is the same height and weight, and the XL regular jacket fits him very well. The coat goes a little below the knee; the jacket goes a few inches below the butt.. Highly recommend this product for anyone who spends alot of time out in the cold. It makes my daily commute alot more bearable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Railrider Warm, weatherproof, looks great.
I bought this coat two years ago and have worn it through two New England winters while commuting daily by rail to Boston, It fits over a suit coat when needed but is plenty warm enough with just a work shirt. I like the pockets especially the exterior zippered one for my rail pass and my building ID, It hangs lower than it appears in the picture but does not bunch up on seats. The zippered storm collar is worn more often up than flattened as I brave, wind, rain, and snow on the exposed train platform. I like the cords that cinch at the waist just like my camo hunting coat. I wear it with a Stetson or on subzero days with a rabbit fur trooper hat--flaps down!
