Rated 5 out of 5 by SportyRN No more lost paddles!
Before I had this leash, I flipped in the cold Maine ocean, near a marina with wakes, and the tide pouring in. I knew how to get back in my kayak, but -- too late -- realized my favorite (expensive) paddle was long gone with the tide. Luckily, I always carry an extra paddle.
Immediately bought this leash. I clip it to straps on my boat or to my PFD. Occasionally I rent kayaks, and take the leash with me.
I just bought a second one for house guests. Also, I'm going to experiment with taking my kayak paddle (and leash) paddle-boarding, because if I'm exhausted (I have COPD), I know I can make it back sitting on the board and paddling with a kayak paddle. AND, in 20-mph winds, I almost lost my board paddle, so I want to see if I can leash that to the board. (Yes, I was once a Girl Scout leader -- always prepared.) :)

I like the long cord length, the amount of stretch. I bought this online and it wasn't designed the way I expected it to be but decided to keep it anyway as the price was right. My previous leash clipped to my kayak and the strap velcroed around my paddle handle which is what I expected of this leash. It appears to be designed to clip around your paddle handle with the strap looped onto the kayakers wrist. I want my paddle attached to my kayak, not to me. I made this work by clipping the leash to the o-ring on my seat and looping the strap around my paddle. It did the job. Considering buying a 2nd leash to take apart and add Velcro or some kind of fastener to the strap as an off season experiment.

Broke at the clip/cord intersection after only 3 uses. I tossed it in sheer frustration. Also as others have mentioned the leash tends to slip on the paddle it needs some rubber grip and velcro to stay in place while paddling.

Bought just to make sure I never lose my paddle. Seems it will do the job.

Sought to acquire an LL Bean field watch. Store rep very helpful. Advise that I wanted a continuous watch band so that if/when band pin failed watch would not be lost overboard. Only available leather band did not meet this requirement. She located on line and we decided to order from home. Later she chased us down with field watch with continuous nylon band. She had located one in the back of some counter and was kind enough to chase us down. Well done!!

The paddle leash is an important item for a kayaker if you will be in any current at all. If for any reason your paddle gets away from you while you are on the water, you are in trouble. I found the paddle leash to be very easy to use and I recommend it. Just wrap one end around the paddle handle and slip the other end on your wrist.

I read about a defect from some of the reviews, but I gave it a go.
sure enough, in the manufacturing process one end of the leash cover is exposed. It should of been covered by the shrink material to secure the lanyard cover over the elastic interior.
I returned it to the store, bought another and another, and they were all the same. The store is advised and recognizes it is a bad lot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by KayakMom2 Doesn't drag in the water
I bought another brand before this one and that one is just too long and bulky. This one is perfect. We bought three and our children use them as well and the tether doesn't get in the way. It does slide on the paddle but that wasn't an issue for me as a casual kayaker and the kids (11 and 9) haven't complained. I also like that it doesn't soak up the water so it's pretty much dry when you're putting things away.
