Rated 3 out of 5 by SaltnStripes Great Performance HORRIBLE lacing
These boots are amazing, i just don't understand how a boot of this price doesn't have hooks instead of eyelets. These are literally imposible to tighten with two hands. Therefore once they get wet and loosen up a bit, they loosen up a lot instead of a little. Either im doing it wrong or these laces are just horrible and im guessing this is why they're on sale. Wish i had the extra to get gray ghost, but another 60 for hooks? If I'm doing something wrong please inform me but i haven't changed the lacing form packaging. When i pull on the laces they tighten down on the furthest eye up and none below.

These shoes are great, The traction with these is incredible to the point where you almost trip over your own feet! Ive had them a year and use them mainly in salt water but do fresh also and these things show no wear yet and Im out in the surf almost every 3 days minimum. The only gripe I have and I dont know if there is normal with all wading shoes is once dried they shrink more then their normal size so I have to wet them to get my feet back in them comfortably but once wet they are back to normal. Maybe I should stuff them while they are drying? Great shoe for the $!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Outdoor good boots but
I have bought the West Branch boots before. They, as other non felt boots, are ok but on rocky bottom of rivers they are not great. Otherwise they are a good buy. I would consider these an excellent buy if the lacing
system were to be improved.

I love these boots except for one fatal flaw...the lacing system. It has to be changed because, otherwise, these boots are fantastic. Unfortunately, because there are only 'loop' style eyelets you cannot...absolutely cannot...tighten these boots w/o a lot of trouble (if you can do it at all). I am moving to the Gray Ghost because, as you can see from the picture, the top three eyelets are secure eyelets that will allow the wearer to tighten the boots.

This is a fantastic wading boot in quality and fit. Offering two widths allowed me to get a boot that's comfortable all day.
These boots are light weight even when wet. The soles grip the bottom better than felt and hold like a hiking boot when going down steep banks. Thanks for a great product.

I have always had bootfit waders. I was a little concerned about my feet getting cold in wading boots. I have used the boots about 7x's and my feet were surprisingly warm. I needed to purchase the men's boots as the women's were not wide enough. I also had to get 1 size larger in the men's size.
The boots gave me the stability I needed while negotiating the rocks in the stream. No more bootfit waders for me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by MichaelCH These Boots Run Small
Consistent with other reviews, these boots run small with neoprene stocking-foot wader booties. I ordered an 8 (my foot size) and then reordered a 10.
Simple sizing guidance in the product description would be helpful.

I was a little nervous at first. I have always had felt bottom shoes before, but was surprised the the grip was good on moss cover stones in the water. They sure did not look like they would grip, but the did. Word to the wise, order up 1 size from normal shoe size. No need to wear heavy socks. All I used were light wieght hiking socks. Very comfortable to walk a half mile+ to get get to the stream.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Kolbitar Great boots - once fitted.
These boots are comfortable, and I've found them to provide a good grip even on freestone rivers with algae on the rocks. Not perfect, of course, but better than I expected. The soles look like they will accept studs, which I may do next season when I go freestoning again.
They dry fast, and clean easily. I had one d-ring pull out, which I just re-installed and bent back into place with no trouble since.
Yes, like many reviewers here I agree you need to do some planning to get the fit right with these, but I've never found that ordering ANY footwear through the mail is anything but a guessing game. Add to that the variances with wader socks and it's a full-scale juggle. I wear a 9 1/2 and was finally comfortable with a 13--and that's because my waders have particularly thick stockings. Customer service is EXCELLENT and they will work with you to get these things right. I think you'd have to do this with any mail-order boot, and I believe these boots are well worth the effort.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Flyfish11 West Branch II wading Boots
Order 1 size up from your street shoe size. These boots run small and tight. I wore size 11 in the original West Branch wading boot, so I ordered the same size West Branch II boot. Very tight. Even the 11 wide was too tight. I eventually found that the size 12 fit fine. Also, the D ring lace holders are difficult to use. I liked the original West Branch boots better. However, overall a good boot for the price.
