We did some hunting around for some nice canoe seats. I have purchased multiple items from LLBean and just love them as a company. After comparing quality / price and appearance I decided to go with these. I purchased 2 of these seats for our canoe. We tried them out this past Saturday and Sunday, we are so happy with our purchase. The adjustable lumbar support is perfect for rowing along as well as perfect for laying back docked in the middle of the water to soak up the sun. The seat straps on the bottom snugly tighten to the existing wooden planks that we have for seats.
We are so happy with this purchase, its makes canoeing a luxury with these seats.

My husband and I live at Lake Tahoe and have a great canoe. However, the paddles on the Lake can be long and and, sometimes, strenuous. These chairs are just perfect for the longer paddles! the rigid back, which is fully adjustable, gives just the right support and the flexible seat is very comfortable. I particularly like that the seat can be locked down for portaging

Very thankful I ordered this item for an 8 day canoe trip down the Yukon River. It provided support and comfort. This made the difference in the trip being enjoyable instead of a struggle.

Bought 2 of these to use instead of replacing caneseats. They have been replaced 2 x's so wanted to go another way. So far I'm glad I did these.

Floridapaddler Better than expected!
I didn't really expect this to work for me, but because of llbean's free shipping and return policy I decided to give it a try, and I'm glad I did.
My canoe is a 25 lb Kevlar solo pack canoe, with a cane webbed seat about an inch off the bottom, and a back band. The web seating did not hold up and not wanting to replace it every year or so I was looking for different options when I came across this seat.
The straps won't go under the wooden frame of the cane seat, so I just sit it on top of the old seat, and that works fine. It is comfortable. In my particular canoe, the back rests against a thwart, so I don't have issues that some have had about the back support straps.
I haven't used it as a stadium seat yet, but I plan to, and the light weight and carrying strap will make this easy.

My husband and I purchased these canoe chairs for a 8 day canoe trip (about 240 miles) on the Yukon River. We were very happy with the chairs. We found that the split seat fit the plastic molded canoe seats on our ancient Sawyer canoe quite well. The chairs were comfortable, provided good back support, were easy to adjust and held up to the weather. We also liked the storage pocket on the seat back.

Used this for a recent 9 day trip on the Allagash Waterway. Very comfortable for the 85 miles we paddled. It did not fit my Old Town canoe which was an older model and had a very small width stern seat. I had to modify it by setting it on the gunwales and tightening the under seat straps, it worked out very well, it did not loosen or slip the entire trip. The portage lock is a nice touch when you portage or turn the canoe over when making camp, it keeps it locked in place. I had to return my seat because the cord lock strap in the back pocket came out from 1 side but had no questions in getting a replacement exchange. Well worth the cost if you do not want a sore rear from long paddling. Our group picked up 3 more when they saw mine before we left on our trip.

Ordered two canoe seats and got them in 2 days!! Strapped them in my canoe and hit the river( class I and II) for an 11 mile trek. Seats held up well and are very comfortable..

We are using this seat on top of the cane seat (stern) in an Old Town canoe. The cane has deteriorated with time, and the LL Bean Sit Backer simply sits on top of the old seat. Upgrade in comfort and effectively replaces the old, cane seat.

Sit Backer well constructed and easily adjusts for comfort. The bottom of the sit backer gives extra padding to seat or bench.
