Rated 4 out of 5 by mainiacforever Nice tent...but
I have only used the tent once so far so my experience is limited. The tent setup was very easy and and it is very sturdy. We got a little rain and did not have any problems with water getting in. As with most tents it says it is a 4 person tent, but realistically, it only sleeps 2 with some room for gear. There is also a small vestibule that you can store your gear in as well.
My only complaint is that the bottom ripped when I put a cot in it. I tried to slide to cot to one side and it ripped a hole in the bottom. The material is very thin so be careful. I thought about returning it for a new one, but since it was my fault I have not done that. If you do get this tent I suggest you also get the footprint for the bottom.

Rated 5 out of 5 by EHaddaman Great Tent -- Most Negative Reviews Are Off Base
I've had the Vector XL4 for over 4 years now, and in that time, it's stood up to all kinds of weather and kept us dry and comfy -- although on a couple of cold nights we buttoned up the rain fly for added warmth and woke up swimming in condensation -- definitely NOT the tent's fault. I wasn't actually going to write a review, but some of the negatives I've seen brought me to it. For complaints about the size: two words, "you're camping". I'm not much of a minimalist. I'd rather lug a little more stuff and be comfortable, but really, folks, if you can't sleep 3 full grown people in this thing, leave some of the junk at home. When I got this, I was 6'1", and had 3 boys, of 12, 7, and 5, and the four of us slept comfortably side by side (with only the old guy using a ground pad). Even though, if you bother to look at the floor plan, you'll see that the fourth person sleeps either at the heads or the feet of the other three. Now that my boys have grown, with the oldest bigger than me and the middle one catching up fast, and all three of us using sleeping pads, we've outgrown the tent, but if you need room for tons of stuff beyond a sleeping bag and pad and the basic necessities to get you through the night, then you should be looking at the big cabin tents, not this one. My only size complaint is the front vestibule, which is too small to hold much in the way of gear, and the opening is too small to slither out of, especially when it's pouring rain. Ease of set-up? 15 minutes the first time with all four of us, not counting time spent reading the directions. Last Friday night, with a torrential downpour bearing down on us, less than five minutes, stakes, rain fly, and all. Putting it away? If you can't get it back in its original stuff sack, then you're not trying hard enough. Take the tent down completely, and put the stakes, footprint, and poles in their bags. Put the the stakes and the footprint in the bottom, then slip the poles in. Next, fold the fly four times into a long, narrow strip, then shove it down in. Repeat with the tent. Put the flap over the opening and cinch it closed. If it's wet when you put it away, take it out and erect it at home until it dries out. And privacy? Well, if you must camp at those sites where you are elbows to knees with the folks on either side of you, you have to make some sacrifices. But really, it's not as bad as you think, and most people would just as soon NOT see in. However, during the day, it's very difficult to see in from more than a couple of feet away, and at night, well, turn off the light long enough to change clothes. The weight? Yeah, it's kind of heavy, but if you split the tent body, footprint and fly, and stakes and poles among the three folks who will sleep in it, it's not so bad. This really is a quality product for up to a week at a campsite or in the wilderness (all I've used it for so far), and deserves your consideration. If you're one of those folks who wants to unpack your U-haul into the tent, look at a different style.

Rated 1 out of 5 Wet Bottom
Nice tent, EXCEPT, the bottom weeps water! Not just moisture. Not just condensation. Water! I have been camping for 40 years, Boy Scouts, long backpacking trips, etc. This tent sets up nicely and has decent inside space. We are disappointed with the vestibule space/ Access through the vestibule is not great. The fly is nice and keeps rain off. All of that would be OK if we were dry from below. But no. Seems to be the wrong fabric for a tent bottom. Oh well. Sending it back. Not sure if I will buy a tent from Bean again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Macgyver Vector xl 4-person Dome Tent
I bought this tent several years ago, and again this weekend, with the new edition to my family, it outperformed as usual. Set up is a breeze, large rain-fly holds gear, and my dog, extremely well. Numerous sewn-in interior (perimeter) pockets hold night-time essentials with ease. The main door zippers are still a little difficult to (smoothly) operate, but are still acceptable. I recommend getting the footprint as well, we camped under fur trees, and they produce a lot of sap, and the rain-fly took the sticky brunt of it. LLBean should think about providing a stake hammer with this one like they did with my older less expensive tent, other than that, recommended buy for a family of up to 4.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Campingfool Great tent - holds up to bad weather
We bought this tent to take camping for a rainy weekend. Well, it did rain the entire time we were there and it rained pretty hard at night. This tent did amazing, we bought the foot print for it, which I thought worked great. It was easy to put up, and take down, and the rain fly sealed us in nice and tight, so we had good ventilation and stayed dry all night. The foot print as others have mentioned doesn't go under the front vestibule, but I was okay with that. We put down a mat and were able to leave our shoes and things outside and they stayed dry as well. The window in the front is placed perfectly so that you can see what it looks like outside, and the pockets are placed in good spots to hold your gear.
The only thing that I was unsure about is the pole that goes at an angle that holds the rain fly out .. seems to pull a bit, but I want to call LL Bean, to see if there was something that we weren't doing just right with that one. I did like how the clips to clip the rain fly onto the poles worked, they were a bit bigger than our last ones and were easy to use.
We were dry, warm and very pleased with our purchase. For a smaller tent, the head room for my 6'6" husband was amazing. Lots of good compliments from our fellow campers to how easy and good our tent worked. Looking forward to a camp trip without the rain to deal with as it should be just that much better yet!!!

My wife and I purchased the Vector 6 tent and footprint and were
excited to set it up. It was a good thing we did, because there was a lack of privacy. The clear plastic window in the fly affords a clear view into the tent as the tent door has mesh with no way to block prying eyes. We sent the tent back.

Tried this tent in two nights of hard rain and thunderstorms and it held up with no worries. I did buy the footprint and highly recommend it. The fly easily kept the tent dry yet surprisingly allowed a nice air flow through the tent. The size is great for two plus gear. My only qualm with the tent is that the windows on the doors cannot zip closed for privacy when the fly is off. My old LL Bean tent had that and it was a nice feature. My last Bean tent last me over 20 years and I'm confident this one will too!

It looks small, but fits many. Used it my first time camping. It was easy to set up and put away as well. Sheltered 4 people and all the bags we brought with us.
