Rated 5 out of 5 by schnorrer Great small organizer bag
Love it, but I use it for something that LL Bean didn't suggest- I carry my tobacco pipes and accessories in it. The main compartment is perfect size for a 4 pipe bag, there is a perfect inside sleeve to keep your tampers. I use the outside mesh pocket for a small plastic bottle of pipe sweetner fluid, and some inside pouches for a box or two of pipe filters. There is plenty of room for pipe cleaners, a tin or two of tobacco, and there is an open rear pouch where I keep my leather day pouch and pipe. I keep this in the trunk of my car, and I have my best pipes and all the supplies I need for a day trip, and toss the whole thing in my suitcase for travel (without the liquid pipe sweetner). It is so useful for this, that LL Bean should re-brand this and sell it in fine tobacconist shops and online pipe stores!

Thought this bag is a really good size. I got the gray and it goes well with jeans/sweaters/ t-shirts. Like the adjustable strap. Hope to get lots of use from this bag.

I kept this item because I was able to purchase it on sale, but if I'd paid full price it would have been returned. The quality just wasn't as high as I expected. Kind of bummed!

Bag is exactly as described; perfect size for travel or daily use. Fabric and zippers appear to be good quality; color selection is nice. Adjustable strap allows for shoulder or cross-chest use; rubber/silicone handle strap is nice.
My only less-than-positive comments on the bag (in case these help others know its limitations) are:
1. Smartphones (iPhone size or larger) don't fit in any of the secondary compartments and must be stored in the large, main compartment where they are subject to scratching from the other objects carried there. Because the main compartment is zippered, there is no quick way to access the phone when it rings.
2. The bag would benefit from an unzipped large compartment for quick, easy access to some items. Unzipping the single main compartment is not a quick, one-handed task, since it is a full-length, U-shaped zipper.
3. The latch that holds the flap closed (a good idea to prevent accidental spills if the bag drops) is placed on the back side of the flap, not on the very end of it. As a result, it cannot be easily unlatched with one hand. You must use one hand to lift the end of the flap and hold it out of the way while unlatching with the other hand (or awkwardly use one hand to do both). This is annoying if one hand is already occupied holding a child, shopping bag, cell phone, or steering wheel....but perhaps it is just a learning curve. A fully exposed latch would have made things easier.
I do love the size, workmanship, and general design of this bag...just wish a little more thought had gone into some of its features. Then it would be perfect!

Rated 2 out of 5 by northbass I thought it would be more.
This came in the mail today, intending to be a gift for my child's teacher. I have to say I like the color, and find it sturdy, but I am disappointed in the size, no way you can fit a cell phone in the holder it was designed for, while there are quite a few pockets they all seem to run smaller and I tried my cell phone around the different pockets and it didn't fit in a couple, not sure what small enough you would carry in the mesh outside pocket? I guess over all I'm not impressed. However I find Bean's customer service second to none, and won't stop shopping here, this time I just thought the product was over priced for what you received.

This is my new favorite casual bag for essential items: wallet, keys, sunglasses, pens, cellphone etc because I can easily locate my stuff in the bag. The various sized compartments keep my stuff organized and allow the small light weight bag to hold a lot more than meets the eye. The ajustable strap is durable and comfortable and the handle is another useful feature.

light weight.. not too large.. perfect for carrying what won't fit into my pocket such as an ereader.. outside mesh pocket holds my water bottle.
can be used as a carryall for those who want something smaller than a messenger bag as there are pockets for cell phone, pens and credit card slots.. there are small and large zippered pockets as well as a quick access slot at the rear.. makes a good 'go to' bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by goldemMom My new purse
This is my new purse. I really do not like shoulder bags because they make my back hurt. Because this bag is so small, I actually wear it as a waist pack with the bag part in from of one hip bone. I'm small at 5'3" and using this bag as a waist pack works for me. I did this for an entire day at the Maryland Renaissance Festival. I really like the little handle at the top of the bag. I can adjust the drop of the bag if I do wear it on a shoulder or across my body.
I do have an Ameribag from Bean that I have used for years and years. They do work from a back relief point of view. It seems that the cost of an Ameribag significantly increased, so I went shopping for alternatives. I purchased the Carryall Guide bag and the Expedition bag. The Expedition was too big for my little body, so I returned it. Both bags are well made.
The Carryall Bag really does work as a small purse. I had previously purchased a small Bean fanny pack for soccer games, but it is too small for my wallet and HUGE cell phone. The Carryall Bag is perfect and is now my new purse. I have room for my wallet and huge phone in the inside pocket. I keep some personal items in the front pocket. Since my key ring is small with two keys on it, I can cram (and I do mean cram) it into the really, really small side pocket. I love all the zippers and the bottom click buckle to secure the top flap to the body of the bag.
I would make one change. I would add a piece of velcro or another zipper to the back pocket. If you tip the bag over, everything in this pocket will fall out. It's not very secure but works great for something that you will reach for often.
I bought it in Green - my favorite color.
Give this bag a try if you are looking for a small, casual purse.

Rated 4 out of 5 by ByronS Carrying bag works well as gigantic wallet
I am a guy and like the way this item has been performing to save me running up and down the stairs getting out the door too. Holds glasses in my own rigid case, and notepad, calendar and phone, pencils pens crayon box. etc. I like the way it's compact size limits what I can choose to bring. I would like to add a shoulder pad to mine without doing surgery on it haha. Time will tell...

Rated 4 out of 5 by Spiffypaws I love this bag.
I love this bag for every day use. I have a lot of leather bags, large and small but this is the bag I use the most. As others have noted, the outside mesh bag is too small to hold a water bottle, but I don't care. The bag will hold a Kindle fire HD and all of my essentials. The cell phone pocket just barely holds my smartphone, which is smaller than an IPhone. For the price, I have no complaints; this bag is extremely functional.
