I want to add my voice to the chorus of dismay about what has been happening to our beloved chambray shirts. They were once great combination of casual and work shirts, now they look and feel more like cheap dress shirts. They once had a softer and heavier fabric that weathered as you wore them. Each change has been accompanied by an assurance you've done it just for us. Clearly you've wanted to create a cheaper shirt to sell to us at the same price. A shirt designed by an accountant. I've bought many over 30 years but won't buy another.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MrNatty I want a whole closet full
As usual, the cottage red plaid short sleeved shirt I received for Father's Day more than lived up to my expectations. [It's a rare occasion that my purchases from LL Bean are anything other than totally satisfactory.] I beg to differ with all the 1 and 2 star reviews--folks who complained about the "not real Chambray." Maybe it isn't, but really I don't care. It looks great and the sort of silky smooth feeling makes almost like wearing no shirt at all.

Rated 1 out of 5 by TexN This is NOT chambray!
Over the years, I've owned more than half dozen chambray shirts from LLB, which gradually fade and soften with repeated washings. My last order was different. That order was filled with what is essentially an oxford-cloth easy care shirt that does not soften with washing. I don't know if someone at Bean bought a bad batch or whether this is a permanent change, but in either case, it is not a good one. Chambray's appeal is in the softening effect and an oxford shirt that does not soften has no appeal for me. Caveat emptor...

I bought three of these shirts about eighteen months ago and they were very satisfactory. The fourth one that I ordered recently is not the same. The material is thinner and the shirt shrank at the first wash/dry. The sleeves are now too short. I have had similar problems with some of the LL Bean dress shirts (not the shrinkage, but thinner material). I have bought most of my clothes from LL Bean for many years and I am still satisfied with jeans, jackets, sweatshirts and other items, but the shirts have become a problem. Please, LL Bean, don't force me to switch to that other on-line retailer.

Husband loves shirt. Fabric not exactly my definition of chambray, but has beautiful depth of color. Also needs to be ironed even if promptly removed from dryer.

Like several others, I'm very disappointed with the new "easy care" fabric. It's OK as a shirt fabric, but it's definitely not chambray. Doesn't have the feel and look of a real chambray fabric. One of the nice things about real chambray is that it has a soft, natural feel. The new fabric has a much smoother feel, which isn't as comfortable. And real chambray has a natural, very slightly wrinkled appearance even without ironing. The old, traditional Bean chambray shirts looks just fine out of the dryer, no ironing necessary. May have a few wrinkles, but that's part of how real chambray looks; it's not unattractive. I won't be buying more of the new "easy care" so-called chambray shirts. LL Bean -- please bring back your old, longstanding, real chambray shirt fabric!

This shirt is advertised as "easy-care cotton sheds winkles while maintaining its natural look and feel'.
Don't believe it, not true.
I bought the shirt specifically because I don't like to iron. Washed the shirt upon arrival and shirt is just as wrinkled as any cotton shirt you would expect to have to iron.
If you want a shirt that you do not have to iron, don't buy this one.

I have purchased about six of these shirts over the past few years. Each purchase seems to be of a shirt of cheaper and cheaper quality. Frequently tears appear in the fabric and I have had to have the collar button repaired on a few. The button does not come off but the fabric simply rips away from the shirt with the button attached. Not the quality I have known from LL Bean over the past 40 years I have been purchasing from them. Reflects increased globalization of the brand and manufacturing sources. Would rather pay double the amount and have a shirt that lasts.

Absolutley love my Chambray Sport Shirt! It's a great shirt that doesn't wrinkle, fits well, and is comfortable as H3%%.
I have the green, plaid and blue and will be ordering more very soon
