Compared to another belt (different style) I have from LL Bean this one is about 2 1/4" shorter.

Well made, great looking and plan to own all colors available. Note I am a 34" waist and ordered a 36" at the advice of a previous review. Even with the one size larger, I am still only on the second hole so you could easily order up two sizes. Heavy duty buckle, stitching and great looking leather makes this a keeper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Pinetreebob Terrific belt!
I really like this Katahdin Iron Works belt. The brown leather is very handsome and the contrasting stitching looks great without being too fancy. It is a substantial belt and is 1-1/2" inches wide and not 1-3/8" as stated in the item description. The buckle is a heavy duty brass, looks great and it appears to be built to last. The KIW belt is perfect for blue jeans but works with chinos and similar "dressier" pants so long as the belt loops will take a 1-1/2" wide belt.
Other reviewers kept exclaiming how thick the leather was and I was expecting the belt to be this slab of leather that would require a break in period. It is nothing like that and while I have had thicker belts, the KIW belt is still a beefy belt. Even so, it really is pretty supple and like most Bean products VERY comfortable out of the box. I put it on and soon forgot I had it on.
When sizing the belt follow the advise of other reviewers and order the belt 2" bigger than your pant size. I wear size 36" jeans and the 38" KIW belt is perfect with room for expansion during Thanksgiving weekend or cinching up if you lose weight. I expect this belt to last me many years.

Rated 4 out of 5 by mrlucas Decent belt
I ordered this as an everday belt. My every day dress in a button up shirt and kahki. It was a little to rustic looking for that style of dress. The main problem was I ordered it the same size as my pant size as they state you should. Not even close to fitting, way to small. Order at least one size up, mayby 2. Bean has the greatest customer service, returned for an exchange.

Great belt. Good looking, durable, true to size and good price for genuine buffalo hide. Made in U.S.A. too!

I have 3 pair of the Katahdin work pants. They are indestructible so I though I would try their belt. Solid and well made. It is 'thick' but that is what you should expect from a Katahdin product. This belt will last for a very long time. However, I comfortably wear a 34 inch waist pants and the instructions said to order the belt the same as you pants size. I can only buckle this in the first hole. There is no room to let it out a notch, say, after Thanksgiving dinner.
I strongly recommend this belt but If I order another it will be in the next size up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Spiritwood A full size smaller than the dress chino belt
Great quality, but to determine the size you need, measure a belt that currently fits well, from where the buckle attaches to the belt to the nearest hole.
On the size 36 Iron Works belt I ordered for my husband, the hole nearest to the buckle falls at 34 inches (the comparable hole on LLB's dress chino belt falls at 36 inches). When he buckled the belt, there wasn't enough left at the end to tuck into the belt loop on his jeans.
I exchanged the first one, thinking the wrong size might have been stamped at the factory, but the new size 36 also has the first hole at the 34-inch mark. I'm returning it as well and ordering a size 38.
