Got the shoes and I was surprised at the degree of two toned and difference of the textured leather. The leather lining was only half a lining, and was of very thin leather, possibly goat, toughbut not known for it's absorbency. After only two seasons of wear, the shoes have lost their shape and appear to half stretched to a sloppy fit unless worn with thick socks. The arch support is minimal. They aren't my first pair of bison leather footwear, having owned over a half dozen or more of various types over the years, so I know what I should get for my money. They will last for a while, the soles aside, but they will be relegated to back up or very casual shoes very soon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Surffisher I'd wear them to bed if my wife would let me!
Oh my! Looks like it's time to re-order another pair, after three years. Tops are perfect, heels are showing serious wear. after heavy use in all kinds of weather. Too bad they can't be resoled. Is there a special ceremony for burial?

I have an 11 EE foot. I'm 6'1 and 225 lbs and over a half century old. I use these shoes for work , business travel, and leisure. I purchased my first pair about a year and a half ago. I needed something to travel overseas in which would work on all occassions except formal. They had to be functional, durable, comfortable, and yet business casual. When traveling, I walk a lot. Four to six miles a day. These meet the requirements. The only thing I would change is the soles. Seems if you wear them 4 days a week on average. After a year and half, they wear down. I am going to see if they can be resoled, but that is 30 - 40 dollars if the shop could do it. And, yet a new pair on sale is about 80.

Arguably the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned or worn. The fit is perfect and the bison leather conformed to the shape of my foot after only a few wearings. The shoes look good and, most importantly, feel great.

I use these for work, and labs in university, and they are perfect for it.
I stand most of the times I wear these, and I have no issues with foot pains from it while I wear these.
Very comfortable, and they look great.
As they are leather, they do scratch, and crease marks will show up, but that is obvious.

This is by far the most comfortable shoe I have worn. Yet each year I need to buy another pair as the soles have worn completely.

Nice comfortable shoe. Got two years almost to the day out of them. Upper is still new looking. Wondering if L.L. Bean can re sole. Just ordered another pair.

Comfortable and good looking enough to wear at work for business casual. Good with jeans too. Reviews say the sole is a bit soft and not durable...yeah, I can see that. I'm wearing the heals down after a few months of 3-5 day a week use. Otherwise, no complaints.

Last year I purchased the Allagash bison shearling chukkas and was so pleased with the comfort, fit, and performance that I decided to get the oxfords, as well. These are terrific shoes. They offer out-of- the-box comfort, are true to size, and the two-toned leathers look great. I own another pair of bison shoes (from a Montana company) and in all cases have found the bison leather to be malleable and extraordinarily soft, conforming almost immediately to your feet. In addition, bison leather is often more expensive, but these Allagash oxfords are very reasonably priced. LL Bean has designed a great shoe.

I have found these shoes to be very comfortable, right out of the box. They look good and have held up well to daily wear. My only complain, as noted by another reviewer, is the soles and heels seem to wear more quickly than I'd expect from a $100 shoe. I would definitely purchase another pair.
