Rated 5 out of 5 by Aardvark44 Bean Quality at its Best!
I'm in my late sixties and have realized two things about my feet: they are getting larger and they are getting sorer. My size 12s were too small and hurt my feet, so I needed to find a comfortable good looking size 13 casual shoe. Having had good luck with LLBean shoes in the past, I went shopping on its website.
The subject shoes arrived last week, and I tried them on immediately. It was amazing! The fit and support were awesome and they felt already broken in. It was like putting on my favorite old walkabouts.
The shoes cost $109.00, on the higher end for Bean, but when you closely look at the quality of the bison leather and the flawless stitching, you realize that comparable non-Bean shoes would probably sell in the $149.00 to $169.00 range.
This shoe is a definite must buy if you're in the market for a high quality casual shoe. If and when these ever wear out, I would replace them with the exact same shoe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Coozy MUCH better look than picture!
I'm writing this review while the feeling I had when I opened the box is fresh on my mind. At first sight I immediately thought this is one of the most well crafted shoes that I've seen in a long, long, long time. The hand stitches, that cannot be seen in the picture, adds a very distinctive look to this shoe. I will be giving a follow up review later, but for now, the shoe fits very good and the look is outstanding.

Rated 4 out of 5 by RickDFromHannibal Good shoe, but beware the worn soles
I've seen others note how quickly the soles on these shoes wear out. I've had the same experience. And when the soles wear smooth they can be very slick - I noticed my feet slipping on pavement markings (stripes, but not the asphalt) walking in a wet parking lot, then slipped and fell on a patch of ice in a flat parking lot. I took them in to get resoled at a local shoe repair - it was worth the $54 to have it done considering the price, quality and condition of the shoes. My advice - don't wait to fall, and get them resoled when worn. They had to grind the old sole off and glue a new one on, but it can be done. They came back looking good as new after just over two years of use. The buffalo leather is great. My only other complaint is that one of the brass eyelets on the side has come loose. The shoes are still very comfortable, the insoles have held up well, and they look good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SunbeltGirl Comfortable, attractive and my husband love's them!
I bought these for my husband for Christmas. He absolutely loves them! Right out of the box, he put them on and he kept remarking about how comfortable they were. The colors are very nice and there was no need to break them in. They are true to his size. And they stay tied! It's difficult to buy shoes for someone much less buy them online. But these shoes were a winner! In fact, every time he wears them, he comments about how comfortable they are. They are a very quality shoe. The stitching is nice and the leather is very soft too. Thank you L.L. Bean!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Beemerguy Comfortable and broken-in right out of the box!
I love these shoes! They are well-made, stylish, and very comfortable right out of the box, and require no real break-in. The color and texture of the leather is very nice, and they compare quite favorably with shoes costing much more. They have quickly become my favorite shoe for almost any occasion. For those to whom such things matter, they are made in Central America rather than the Far East. I can recommend them without reservation... :-)

Rated 2 out of 5 by BobMaryland Great shoe, Poor Soles
I loved this shoe at first. It fits nicely, is extremely comfortable.
BUT, and this is a big BUT...the soles wear out at about the 1 year mark without fail. I have had two pairs (to their credit Bean replaced the first pair without question) and both pairs did exactly the same thing. I can't ask them in all honesty to replace the shoe again but I won't buy another and I can't recommend them. Soft soles. I have previous shoes of Beans like these and they lasted for years. Something wrong with the sole material.

Rated 3 out of 5 by xciteableboi nice looking, comfortable, premature sole failure
I bought a pair of these shoes and the similar boots and enjoyed them immensely. LL Bean does not resole these but assured me it could be done. I went to our local cobbler and he told me it would cost $75 to resole. Not economical based on shoes original cost.
I would highly recommend and purchase another pair if and only if LL Bean introduced a longer lasting sole.

Got the shoes and I was surprised at the degree of two toned and difference of the textured leather. The leather lining was only half a lining, and was of very thin leather, possibly goat, toughbut not known for it's absorbency. After only two seasons of wear, the shoes have lost their shape and appear to half stretched to a sloppy fit unless worn with thick socks. The arch support is minimal. They aren't my first pair of bison leather footwear, having owned over a half dozen or more of various types over the years, so I know what I should get for my money. They will last for a while, the soles aside, but they will be relegated to back up or very casual shoes very soon.
