I've just ordered my third pair. The first lasted years including an Africa safari on rocky, mountainous ground and various other hikes plus regular wear to the office and working around the house and yard. When the soles got smooth, I donated them to the clothing drive, and put the second pair into daily use. They're getting a little worn, but still have a couple of years in them. Pair 3 will stand by for dress until they are needed to replace Pair 2. The color and finish of these shoes is as good as any I own, as good as custom-made shoes. I also wear the oxfords, deck shoes, and moccasins. Obviously I am a satisfied customer. The only shortcoming to this shoe is that it will take on water around the tongue, sole, and stitching. I also have three versions of the Maine hunting shoe.

I recently bought another pair of chukkas from a different brand for work (business casual), and I couldn't stand to wear them because the leather was so thin and cheap and there wasn't great support. These Allagash Bison Chukkas on the other hand really fit the bill. Great bison leather that looks like it will stand up to years of wear but is also soft and supple, a nice light sole, and great overall fit right out of the box. The length in the footbed was a little long. I normally wear a 9 1/2 and the length in these 9 1/2 were a little too long (perfect width though). However, the insole is a little thin (they felt great initially, but after a mile or so, they get pretty compressed), so with a aftermarket cushioned insole these are now a perfect fit.

I really like these boots. Very comfortable and great for jeans or chinos. My only complaint is that laces keep coming loose. Seriously, I have to tie these 4-5 times a day.

I've had my pair for about a year and they are very comfortable and wear them most days.
My only complaint is that the two sides where the laces pull the sides together is so close once they are tighten that the boot seem loose on my foot. Maybe I have a narrow foot as I have the same problem with Chukka Boots.
The quality of the boots are great so I have no complaints in that area.

I have owned these for 2years and worn them primarily for light street use/occasional field use or fishing water edge. The quality and durability are outstanding, notwithstanding need for a thick sock or liner to reduce chafing against the leather side lining if worn in the field. (I have found that silicone or beeswax treatment reduces this tendency, along with improving water resistance).Fit is great.
The rubber lug sole is the only caveat, wearing a bit fast for this type of boot.A higher quality sole would extend the capability of this otherwise excellent boot.

Had ordered the Men's Allagash Bison Handsewns, Oxford, and liked the feel and color contrast. The chukka boot is all one color and was hoping the chukka would be the same aas the oxford in color of leather. Highly recommend the boot for outside activities, but not for forging streams, use the original bean boots. Walking in them is a pleasure, even after foot surgery, Great ankle support. Hank, Texas.

Here's the story. I Went to the Bean store near me on Black Friday around noon because my buddy needed a jacket. I looked around, saw these boots for about 70$ and tried them on. Instantly was sold on them. Right there in the store. So comfortable I had to buy em and when I got to the car I changed into em. These are the dopest. GET EM.

Just used as office shoes so never really put them through the motions but they were great for that anyway. My only problem with these shoes was the tongue is always stuck at some odd angle after putting them on.

Rated 5 out of 5áby Mervich Allagash Bison Handsewns - Shearling Chukka
As a gift to me, I surprised myself with a pair of Allagash Bison Chukkas of the shearling lined variety. Very nice boots with obvious attention to detail; beautiful, soft leathers and luxurious full shearling lining. Mine are darker than pictured, especially the smooth cow leather trim?nearly all one color. To compensate for the shearling lining, I chose Ż size larger than my normal and the fit is perfect?comfortable right out of the box! I have the same soles on two other pair of L.L.Bean shoes?they may wear a bit sooner than some other soles, but I certainly wouldn't characterize them as wearing out too quickly. To waterproof the leathers, Bean recommends item #ZZ285725, L.L.Bean Boot Guard (inexpensive and works good)?although I wouldn't recommend wearing these boots in deep slush/water, they're much too nice?and that's what Bean Boots are for!
