Rated 5 out of 5 by WaltB New take on an old idea.
I used my poncho for the first time today. It takes up very little space in my sling (day) pack. It works very well in the rain. It is cooler than my goretex rain coat. It keeps most of your legs dry. I haven't used a poncho in years. This one is very well designed. I like it.

This poncho kept me and my gear dry. I never got too hot under it, great ventilation. I even used it as a quick "blanket" to lay on. It also seemed to stay pretty clean considering being on the ground at times.

I used to have a poncho like this but after 20+ years I had to get a new one. I looked and looked until I finally found this one. It keeps me dry and is roomy enough to wear my pack keeping it dry also. Love it!

On Sunday before a trip to Rwanda I ordered the poncho. To my amazement someone answered my email and recommended express mail to make sure the poncho arrived in time......This was on midnight on Sunday. I was stunned and very impressed. The poncho arrived two days later and I used it. It did not rain hard but I was completely dry. Thank you for such amazing service.

My daughter and I are planning to walk the Camino de Santiago (Way of St. James) in June. People who have made this pilgrimage strongly recommend a poncho instead of rain gear. I was amazed that it was difficult to find a quality poncho at outdoor gear retailers. So I order two of these.
My initial impression is the Sea to Summit tarp poncho is well made. I also like the fact that it can be used as a camping cover. It is fairly compact and reasonably lightweight. Hopefully, the factory sealed seams will not leak.

Have yet to test this in a heavy rain, but appears up to the task. Seams are sealed and I detected no leaks. Fits over a pack and has a pull-string for shortening the posterior side. Tabs are conveniently located for use as a shelter, but I definitely recommend some practice setups to determine where and how to attach cordage with/without trekking poles. Can easily repack into its 3.5x6.5inch stuffsack so an easy carry for a day or fanny pack. There is an ultra-sil version available that will save a couple of ounces but at about twice the cost.

I haven't tested it yet, but the construction seems durable. It is neatly packaged for stowing in a pack. I"m not really looking forward to hiking in the rain, but I;m confident this will keep me and my pack dry.

I live in a very rainy and windy portion of Hawaii. My dogs want a walk no matter what the weather! The poncho easily slips over my clothes and protects me from the weather. The poncho could be slightly longer to cover my pants cuffs but i am very pleased overall.
