Right out of the box I knew these boots would be durable. Even my husband said he'd like a pair for snowmobiling. These come with an extra boot liner if the other ones are damp. They aren't too heavy and are the perfect height to walk in our deep snow. I'm quite impressed. My 4 year old is very happy and he's looking foward to some long days ice fishing.

These have been great for the price during a very snowy winter. The second pair of liners comes in handy when the first gets wet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by TiffanyC Great Boots!!!
I've bought these for my son - the first pair lasted him 2 seasons (and would last longer if he didn't outgrow them), and the 2nd pair has only been one so far. They're very well made, roomy (good for bulky socks), warm, and stay dry! I would highly recommend these boots.

My daughter likes these boots because they're nice & tall. She was excited at the idea of the drawcord to keep the snow out. Unfortunately, the drawcord doesn't lock tightly. I returned one pair & the replacement pair is exactly the same. We're going to keep them anyway because they keep her feet nice & warm. Beware: they run really big. She is 11 years old and wears a kids size 4. I ordered a kids size 5; they're so big that these boots fit me and I'm an adult size 7! By the way, I wore them to walk the dog and found them quite stiff. I couldn't wait to remove them after 20 minutes.

The boots were at first alarmng when we pulled them out of the box. They came out of the box looking quite large. They come with an amazingly thick liner, plus a spare pair. Hence the large appearance. My daugher is extremely petite so I did order up a size. We love them. Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it Snow..

These are the absolute best boots! Reasonably priced, keep the feet dry and warm, extra liners are easily switched allowing the kids to go right back outside when snow goes down the boot (which rarely happens if they are paired with L.L. Bean snow pants), true to size, hold up to handing them down to the younger ones and.... wait for it.... the best part.... my kids CAN PUT THEM ON BY THEMSELVES!! We can not ask for better performance from a children's boot. Don't change them!!

Purchased Northwoods Boots last year and was pleased. Gave it another go this year but found an extremely narrow fit. My child's foot has narrowed to a C width, and it was simply uncomfortable. Glad for the easy return policy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Taotaosmom Great boots but liners wear through
My son has been wearing these Northwoods boots for three or four sizes now. They are very warm and we really love them. They are a bit narrow at the top, but my son is thin, and as they are narrow it is easier to put the snowpants over the outside of them.
We absolutely love that they come with two pairs of felt liners. One pair goes on the heater when he comes home from school and another dry pair goes into the boots to go out to play or do errands. I have recommended these to so many people because of that.
However I have returned two pair of these boots now. One pair a year ago as the rubber was splitting open on the toes (along the lines you can see on the upper toes) when they were practically new. And another pair because the felt at the heels where the achilles tendon is very quickly wore through and left a kind of roll of felt, and an open horizontal welt straight through the felt.
LLBean was very nice to replace them both times. The split rubber was definitely a defect, and I thought the worn felt was too. But now the replacement pair is doing the exact same thing, and it is only Dec (ie he's been wearing them daily almost exactly one month). Perhaps they need to switch the makeup of the felt, or they need to put a fabric reinforcement patch over the back of the heel of the liner, like another pair of boots my son owns of a different brand.
It is really unfortunate as they are such good boots. Or used to be. The pairs he wore 2-4 years ago, he wore them til the treads were worn through on the bottom and they were still solid in the body. It is sad to see 3 pair in a row wear out while the treads are still new. That said, I hope that we can buy just the liners to replace since the rest of this pair are very good. (my son is 8 yrs old now and is in size 13. The defective pairs were size 12. He has been wearing this style since at least size 9 or 10).
I still highly recommend these boots as they keep his feet warm, and with the two pairs of liners, very dry, even at -20 or -30C. in wet Montreal winters and cold Saskatchewan winters.
