Assembly was easy except one long screw was missing and instead there was a short screw with the wrong type head. I live-chatted LLB and a replacement screw arrived within a few days.
Quality seems pretty good. I can see replacing the foam cushion in the future with a better quality foam.
It's a big hit with the cats.

I bought the dark leather footstool and matching Morris Chair as a Father's Day
present. The footstool was easy to assemble and both the wood and leather are a beautiful quality. Too bad the chair arrived missing parts so after spending over $800.00 for both pieces, we have a footstool but only part of a chair. LL Bean was very helpful and promised to have the mfg. send out our missing parts. Just hope the parts don't take three weeks to arrive like the chair did.

We have had this well over a year now and it is used daily. Love how sturdy it is and it goes well with the other mission furniture we have purchased from LL Bean. We have the tapestry stool and it matches perfectly the tapestry sofa covers we have, also from Bean. We now have 15 pieces of Bean's mission furniture. What a great value that stands the test of wear and tear!

I never thought I could buy such a beautiful piece of furniture from LL Bean! It looked great on the internet, but I had no idea how great it was in person. I bought the dark mission with the chenille pad and am so impressed I want another! It is strong as well as beautiful and no details were spared in the craftsmenship. It also looks great in my lodge decor home. thank you so very much!!

Reading and relaxing requires a comfortable angle for your legs which this stool provides. Firm cushion and sturdy construction provides another seat for gatherings by the wood stove. Very impressed with the quick shipping, ease of assembly and packaging.

Glad I also got the footstool which matches the chair perfectly. The quality is excellent, and was easy (even for me) to assemble. The dimensions (height, width, depth) make for very comfortable use. Really like the feel of the leather and its refined pebbly texture, which was a nice surprise as I couldn't tell that from the website photos. I think the value is very, very good, and the service/delivery time can't be beat.

Received this last week (9-09) and love it. Easy assembly; the jig used to drill the holes in these solid ash components is accurate... no misaligned drilling!
Wood plugs to cover screw holes are a thoughtful addition. Recommend gluing the plugs for permanent installation. A Phillips screwdriver (or variable speed drill), bit of wood glue, and rubber mallet are the only assembly tools needed.
We have an L.L. Bean small Mission bookcase, and this ottoman is just as well-made.
