We have enjoyed having the Morris chair (and ottoman) for several years now. It is sturdy and very well made. It's a comfortable design that will never go out of style! If I could improve any aspect of the chair, I would make the seat cushion a bit thicker. Seems just a little skimpy thin to me, considering the price of the chair. That's why I only gave it 4 stars. Otherwise, you won't be disappointed! My son in law, whenever he comes to visit, asks me if I'm ready to get rid of the chair yet. He wants it! But he'll have to wait awhile longer!

I bought this, with the ottoman, to go in my library. Some previous reviewers had issues with missing parts or difficulty assembling it. I had none of those problems.
I found assembly to be easy enough. However, I had to use my power drill with a phillip's head bit to get the screws completely seated. No way could I have gotten them tight enough by hand.
That done, it's a really solid piece of furniture in a classic style that my cats immediately claimed as a favorite place to curl up and snooze. I love relaxing in it to read a book. It's a lot more comfy than it looks.

Chair was packed well. Assembly was easy with everything lined up perfectly. The seat and back cushions however will not stay in place. when sitting the seat cushion slowly slides toward the ottoman so you have to reposition both cushions for the chair to look good. Some double sided tape has fixed this issue.
The chair is very comfortable and I have gotten several compliments on the design.

The Morris Chair with Goldenrod Chenille Cushion arrived yesterday and my husband is putting the finishing touches on it as I write. All the pieces came and were in good condition.
The one exception is the cushion. The bottom cushion was packed so tightly in the box that it's indented in two long marks (mirroring the wood it was pressed against) and the nap showed this indentation yesterday. Time has passed and I've used a small soft brush on it and things are looking better.
My husband found the chair and ottoman easy to assemble, although the multiple screws required quite a bit of force to attach snugly.
The chair is both comfortable and lovely; the light oak matches the Bean Mission bookcases and tables in our greatroom.

I just assembled this chair tonight and have been sitting reading in it happily. It's a very handsome, comfortable, supportive, and functional chair that lifts my spirits. It wasn't hard to put together, and there were no missing or broken parts as a couple of recent reviews have complained, so perhaps the problems have been eliminated?

I ordered this chair several weeks ago and it arrived with the left side askew. Very shoddy construction. I called LL Bean and they sent me a replacement left side.
This side was worse than the first! The pieces were barely connected and falling apart.
It's hard to believe that someone who cared anything about quality actually put this in a box for shipment to a customer.
This is a far cry from the LL Bean I used to know. Maybe I should have paid attention to some of the recent reviews on this chair.
Waiting on a third left side...

As always, LL Bean customer service
was exceptional. But, first the chair
arrived without a back, then the mfg.
sent the back but without any hinges.
So we still have a chair that still doesn't have a usable back. Pending....

Love my chair, but I recline it a lot and the screwss have pulled out on the hinges for the reclining back. This caused the hinges to bend. I need to replace the hinges but can't find them anywhere. Can anyone help?

While LLB maintained its tradition of outstanding customer service, we ordered two in the light finish with leather cushions and had to exchange one due to a blob of wood stain on the arm. Assembly is not the easiest (requires two people and patience) but all parts were included and instructions mercifully clear. This item is a wonderful value, very stylish and comfortable enough for my tall husband and my 9-year-old (with the addition of a decorative lumbar pillow). Thanks again, Bean's!

While the quality of wood and dark leather seat are beautiful we were
more than disappointed to find that
our Father's Day present did not include
a back to the chair. So we ended
up with two ottomans...and an odd Father's Day present to give.
LL Bean agreed to have the maker of the chair send us a back.
