This would have been a great sweater if the color had been consistent (I am speaking specifically about the loden). It fit, it was thick, but with all the stray colored bits of yarn (zoom in closely or you'll miss it), I ended up returning it.
Maybe the white works. I would have liked to see both navy and loden offered, with no stray colors.

Love the sweater. I'm a normal medium and the sweater fits.
The sweater is well made and feels real comfortable really warm.

I ordered this specifically because it looked very warm and with a son in hockey, I wanted something to wear at the rink during the winter. It is a very good looking sweater, but I wound up returning it to a retail store; it just way to loosely knit to keep an warmth in. I wound up buying other items in the store as I typically LOVE the quality of LLBean products, but this just was not what I had expected.

My wife bought me this sweater twenty years ago.
I think i was a medium back then.
I wore it once.
She washed it and put it in the dryer (we were young).
SOOOO,She inherited my new Irish Fishermans sweater.
Love,love,loved it.It lasted twenty years.
This year,i bought a mens small. No,i don't have any diet secrets,it's for her.
Moral of the story.Great sweater,Don't put it in the dryer,UNLESS you are someones wife that really wants a great sweater but doesn't want to spend the money on herself.Buy one for your man and tell him to wash it.I bet he puts it in the dryer.
Ho Ho Ho,Merry Christmas
It's a beautiful,warm,long lasting sweater.Money well spent

Rated 5 out of 5 by JonfromNewYork Great Heavy Cable Knit Sweater
I always wanted a cable knit sweater but am very particular as to style and quality. I got this sweater and both requirements were met and surpassed. This sweater is heavy. So, if you are not looking for a heavy sweater, buy something else. I used it instead of a jacket with only a light shirt underneath in 40 degree (farenheit) weather and loved it. It kept me warm and looked stylish. I was concerned about the sizing and got a XXL and the fit was great. I would highly recommend this quality sweater. Oh, did I mention that the tag shows that it was made in Ireland? So, for those looking for authentic Irish Cable Knit Crewneck look no further.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MJKReno Warm and comfortable with a great look
I don't write a lot of reviews, but felt that this sweater deserved one. I have two: one natural and one blue. Both are identical except for color and are the best sweaters I have ever owned. Fit and comfort are excellent (I wear large size and have fairly long arms). No issues with smell or anything else for that matter. I have been stopped twice in public by strangers to compliment the looks of these sweaters which has never happened to me before with anything else I have ever worn. My only wish is that the blue would come back so that I might buy another to put away in case anything ever happened to mine. I have had both through one season and am starting on my second. I have worn them a lot and they are holding up extremely well and still look almost new despite the frequent use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by PlaidMavin Nearly 20 years and still going
I sometimes image the women and men, sitting at home on Innishmore, knitting these sweaters.....I have owned my Bean fisherman's sweater for nearly 20 years. I loved how I could smell the lanolin in this for about the first 5-7 years. It is my go to sweater when the temp outside dips below -5 or so. In any temp between freezing and 10 degrees, it can be worn outside instead of a coat. It washes well year after year and continues to look nice. No pilling. Water resistant in fog, drizzle, etc. (not so much in a Michigan downpour). I figure at this point that it has been pennies per wear over its lifetime. Doesn't appear to have risen much,if any, in price. For those that care, it is a bit bulky, but less so than a wool coat.

Rated 4 out of 5 by ncgeezer It's WARM!
not the most attractive sweater I've ever owned, kinda looks 2 me like they cleaned up all the remnants off the floor 2 make it, but my objective was 2 stay warm during the frigid winter.
Sleeves are 2 long 4 me but I think my arms have shrunk because everything I've bought recently the sleeves are 2 long.
Would definitely recommend even if you're not a fisherman in the North Sea.
