Our "puppy" is getting older and not as agile as she used to be. Arthritis has set in an injured leg. We tried the Memory Foam Dog Bed Insert in an effort to make her more comfortable. The bed is easily accessible to her, as there is no more jumping up on the couch! It has become her favorite place to sleep and gives her the much needed support when she gets up. She will seek out the bed when she wants to rest. We should have updated our dog beds earlier!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ambersmama Wonderful product, but not for my fussy dog
The memory foam insert is wonderfully made. I'd recommend it to anyone contemplating this purchase. We bought it with high hopes that it would help our arthritic 12-year-old Belgian shepherd. She slept on it for part of one night, and since then won't go near it. She'd rather sleep on the floor. No idea why! We already had the LL Bean Premium Dog Bed, so we switched back and she's happy again. Sadly, we are returning this bed.

It took our two greyhounds a while to get used to the memory foam cushions that were harder than the other LL Bean fills, but they have adjusted and seem to like them now.

I have used the same insert for over 5 years. Also the same cover. They have done great with 5 Greyhounds! and they love them.
One thing the cover needs to be made a bit bigger so it is MUCH easier to change when you want to wash it, otherwise it is a BEAR to get on if your able to with out help from 3 people!

This is our second purchase. The last one we purchased lasted 3 years. Our husky loves to dig in it so it gets a lot of abuse from her. My husband build a platform bed for this mattress to fit in and she doesn't sleep anywhere else. It gives her great support. She is in her advance years so it is ideal for supporting her when she stretches out. Will continue to buy again if needed.

We purchased the full dog bed 2 years ago and decided to replace the foam insert. When it arrived in the mail and I unwrapped it I was very concerned as it appeared crushed and bent beyond what seemed right. I left the room to take care of some other things and when I returned an hour later, it was perfectly flat and looked just like the one we were replacing! It fit right into the canvas cover.

When the box arrived I told Calvin it was for him + he watched, fascinated, while we put the bed together. As soon as I put the bed on the floor he jumped in + sat there happily while I took pictures. Then he took a nap + has been using the bed even since. Calvin is a Wheaten Terrier + the bed fits him perfectly (size medium) no matter how he is sleeping. There is enough padding with the fan so I do have to be concerned about a cold floor, + the "nest" effect is what he seems to enjoy the most about the bed. Washing should not be a problem, but I don't look forward to putting the bed together again.

For many years (yes YEARS) our dogs have enjoyed their LLBean Dog beds. All this time we've used the regular inserts & they are great - keeping their loft & shape over the years & being washed more times than I can count! I only replaced the covers once in 8 years! We decided to upgrade to the memory foam insert when our 10 year old bull terrier started showing signs of arthritis. The new bed is a little firmer and is slightly more elevated which makes it easier for her to get up and down. She LOVEs it & so do we!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by JeanH Product Great, Dog won't get on it!
I received the Large, Memory Foam Dog Bed Insert within a week of ordering. I followed the instructions for opening and let the mattress sit out for 24+ hours before inserting it in the cover. I had no difficulty in getting the mattress into the cover. True, since it was only me, it took about 20 minutes. But I didn't struggle with it.
I put it down for my dog to get on. He got on it and got right off. This has continued for a whole week. I have to make him get on it. As soon as I move away from the bed, he gets off of the bed and won't get on it unless I make him and keep a watchful eye. Well, that's not going to work. So, reluctantly I will be returning the mattress.
