I bought the therapeutic bed for my GSD who is now 7 when she was 5 and about ready to have surgery that would not allow her to get up and down on my bed like she had since she was a puppy. Well, she had the surgery 2 years ago and she never really want back to sleeping in people beds. She loves her bed from L.L.Bean!! She runs about 78 lbs. and the Large is the perfect size for her.

I wanted to replace my Labrador's 7 year old LL Bean bed, since it is getting a little smelly and starting to wear a bit. Overall the old bed is in excellent condition.
Be warned, the new therapeutic bed is made of a much firmer memory foam. My pup has bad hips and seemed a little uncomfortable even standing on the new bed. Even after trying to trick her by covering it with her old sheet, she was not convinced.
The final straw was when she made a point of moving to her old bed in the middle of the night. Luckily, LL Bean has an excellent return policy. I wish they would bring back the earlier version as I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by heatherbetsy Finally, a GREAT dog bed
This just arrived today. It hasn't even finished puffing back out after having been folded and compressed for shipping, but clearly Flora loves it. She's fourteen and a half, and has had ACL surgery, so she's pretty sore but still quite active. This is the FIRST dog bed we have ever purchased that seems to have good foam that is as firm as it should be. And the cover material will certainly not be worn through by "nesting" activities. We'll see what the next few days bring, but I am highly impressed so far. I feel bad for having waited so long to get one of these for her. Thank you!!!

by MassToAlaska It can take a wrestler up the the challenge
I purchased this bed in Kahki, size Large in late November, 2013.
I bought this bed for my growing puppy dog. (He is six months old and roughly 60 lbs in these photos), to give you an idea. Today, my dog is now around 80 lbs and the large bed is still the perfect size for him to stretch out on.
My dog is still an energetic puppy, and still a little destructive. When he has to wait to go to the park he loves to throw tantrums and take his bed in and out of rooms, up and down the stairs, and wrestle it. (We're working on that). Other beds we have had have been trashed in three months. He also prefers to sleep by the entry way at night and guard the door, so the cover has seen quite a bit of mud this spring.
The cover vacuums off so easily to remove hair and dirt. It can be washed and is very durable if it must be washed on "heavy duty". It can be difficult to put back on, but has a very snug fit so that the foam insert stays in place. Even though Miles wrestles his bed, the seams have barely torn on one of the corners and it could be easily fixed at home. The foam insert has seen some chipping yet the cover remains unscathed. I'm very pleased with this purchase, and he seems to love stretching his belly out or chewing rawhides on this bed. Hopefully he'll treat his bed nicer when he's older and I believe it should last him through his learning years.

Our 13 year old Schnauzer was recently diagnosed with carcinoma on her paw. We decided to make her as comfortable as possible. This therapeutic pet bed was the perfect solution in easing her uncomfortableness. It supplies the right amount of support. It may be pricey, but worth every penny. Your pet will love you for it!

I bought one of these beds to test with my two senior boxers and I've really let them use it to write a fair review. I wanted to love the bed and more importantly I wanted them to love the bed so i could get them another. Overall the quality of the foam & the cover are good. The foam is very thick and appears to be high quality that isn't matted down and the cover is nice & thick with good stitching to avoid tears. However I couldn't give it five stars for two reasons. First there is not water proof lining & nothing is made available. This is surprising to me since many people who shop at LL Bean have hunting dogs. The second is that the cover is a bear to put on which makes washing it a chore and something I avoid. It was this way right out of the box. Because of this when I bought a second bed for them I purchased another brand entirely which they both sleep on together now. Occasionally one of them will choose this bed but prefer their other one. Too bad I've had great luck with Bean beds in the past.

Rated 2 out of 5 by emptynester55 Denim is stiff and foam is super hard
I bought this bed about 5 months ago, thinking it would be good for my dog's arthritic hips. And I admit he seemed to do better with this bed, over his soft nesting bed. But I also noticed, he seemed uncomfortable trying to lay on it and took a long time to settle on the bed at night. About a month and a half ago, I bought a different bed with less firmness and a soft cover, and put it on top of this bed. He seems so much happier and can actually snuggle a little more on the new bed. I feel like I really wasted $115, just to use this therapeutic bed as the base under another bed.

The LL Bean Memory Foam dog bed is AMAZING. The memory foam is really THICK! The cover reminds me of my human's blue jeans. I'm sure it will soften up when I break it in. The color is dark enough to not show my paw prints, yet light enough so that when I shed, you won't see every hair that I've lost.
We ordered it on Sunday. It arrived on TUESDAY! TWO DAYS from Maine to CT. That's fast!
I'm a 60 pound Golden Retriever and I got the large bed.
Now -here's the real testimonial. All of you know how much I love my food. I love my mom' s food even more. Well, my mom was preparing a STEAK (yes - a STEAK) and I did not leave my new bed to supervise. I ALWAYS supervise the preparation of food. Especially when I think I might get some. But with my new comfy bed, I only left to supervise when she was done cooking and actually sitting down to eat. THAT tells you how much I LOVE MY NEW BED!

Best purchase ever!!! This is my second/third bed for my dogs and they love it. Its nice and comfy and has a lot of cushion. Not like the cheap beds where there is no padding and they sink to the floor. My boy had knee surgery and this has been the best thing I have gotten for him.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ProudDad Our dog loves this and hasn't chewed through it.
Our labrador retriever has chewed through several other supposedly chew proof dog beds we have bought for her from other companies, typically within the first few days of receiving them. She loves this bed and hasn't yet been able to chew through it. I would highly recommend this bed and it was quite easy to set up.
