Building Trust, One Pair of Boots at a Time
A century ago, Leon Leonwood Bean sent out his first shipment – 100 pairs of Maine Hunting Shoes. After 90 pairs were returned, L.L. kept his word and refunded the purchase price. He corrected the problems and, with undiminished confidence, mailed more brochures.
Throughout the decades, L.L. continued to see the value of keeping customers satisfied at any cost. He improved the company's service to include keeping his store open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and offering free shipping on mail orders. Today, we offer these services and more, because a satisfied customer is still our most important goal.
Join us for our 2012 centennial celebration. Sign up for L.L.Bean email updates to get the latest on our 100th anniversary plans.
