Rated 1 out of 5 by unclepaulie lifetime warranty????
Received these for Christmas last year from my son. I was elated to say the least, as I would not purchase such an expensive plier for myself, although I would certainly admire such fine things, as most would. A year later, I was cutting some 20lb. single strand wire for bluefish rigs and one of the cutters broke. A call to the manufacturer was an eye opener to say the least. It seems, the cutters and the jaws are replaceable, but the company does NOT warranty them! I was floored! As these pliers are designed for only two functions, gripping and cutting, what then does the lifetime warranty cover?? I was told that if I sent them back with $30 they would fix them and if I wanted to do it myself, they would send me the cutters for $26. Of course, I would also have to pay for the return shipping to them. I am totally at a loss in this situation. I would think more than twice before I purchased any Ross product. I can purchase $40 pliers which will perform at least as well as these have, and I'm sure 4 of them for the same cost will last at least as long as MY lifetime!

I did alot of research on premium pliers before buying these. Unfortunately, no stores actually had any of the brands I was considering that I could examine or I would have bought a different brand. The finish is attractive and the basic design is sound (for small hands). The real problem is poor construction. The jaws didn't close all the way and there is no way to adjust the cutters for fine tuning. Also, the jaws didn't line up properly and there was quite a bit of side-to-side play caused by a loose pivot hinge. I returned these and for $10 more bought the Fishpond Barracuda pliers. They are OUTSTANDING!

I got the 6 inch. For most applications, its a good working pair of pliers for the fisherman. It cuts braided lines and mono and light cable leaders without any problems. The hook sharpener works nicely. The finger grooves fit my hands but someone with larger hands might find this small. The curve of the handle seems a bit too rounded for my palm since my palm wants to slide forward toward the pivot. I tried to hold the top handle back a bit, but the grip felt awkward. The nose of the plier is fairly wide and pinching barbs of small hooks was tricky. I don't use this for removing small hooks since it can't give good grip for the hook bend.

Really nice pliers! The tips are small enough to crush a barb down, and the cutters have worked perfectly on any line that I used them on. The built in hook hone is a great thing to have handy. For this price, the prescador's are a very solid buy, and built like a tank!

These bad boys are sick. I used these pliers pike fishing and shark fishing in the salt where I was cutting wire all the time. The cutters on these pliers are great. I then had to use the cutters on some micro braid line after all the wire cutting and the cutter still worked great. I foind myself using the small built in file on top of the pliers a lot to sharpen hooks. Love that feature. Thats hard to find I tell you. Its nice to have the size to chose from too. I have a pair of both the big ones and the small ones. Good job on these pliers Ross. I recommedn these pliers to anyone the fishes.

Being able to cut line, remove hooks, perform knots, and sharpen hooks completes these perfect pliers for an angler.
Ross has accomplished that with the Pescador Pliers. I personally rely on these more now than I did hemostats in the past. Knowing you never know what you may encounter on the water, this is a must tool to have.

I must confess I was a little skeptical when my wife gave me Ross Pliers for Christmas. The ones I lost had proven themselves for years. However, now after owning these for more than a year I am extremely satisfied. After many trips to the salt they refuse to rust. The built in sharpener that I thought I would never use is very handy. And my cutters have held up amazingly despite cutting various wires, 100lb shocks and when I?m trout fishing, light tippets. They are superb!

I have had the pleasure to fish for a wide variety of species of fish all around the world and as such find a need daily for a great pair of pliers! The Ross Pescador Pliers meets and exceeds my expectations! I have have used my Pescador pliers for everything from cutting heavy mono for butt sections on Sailfish leaders to cutting steel leaders for pike in Alaska! I have been using my current pair of pliers for more than three years now and they have travelled to more places than most anglers will see in a lifetime and they still slice through heavy mono, steel, or even braided lines like butter! I highly recommend these pliers to anyone who fishes! From pinching down barbs to sharpening your hooks to cutting the toughest lines the Pescador Plier can handle all your needs!
