Rated 5 out of 5 by ManFromBingo Great comfort
This is my third pair of Bean waterproof hikers. I wouldn't buy them if they weren't high quality. The traction is great, but they are a little on the heavy side - not a problem for me. The size is true, but I'd go a half size larger for wool socks.

I have owned several pairs of these light wieght, durable hikers and they are worth every penny. Allow some time for the shoes to break-in and once they do you will not believe the comfort and fit.

I have just worn through my 3rd pair of these. I wear them nearly everyday for my job as a facilities tech (grounds duties, building maintenance, snow removal), and wore the first pair for hiking (~100 trail miles on that pair).
The boots are durable- tend to last me about 18 months before seams give out, insole wears through, or the sole wears all the way through. They are also very comfortable as far as outdoor footwear goes. The are also waterproof as stated.
Though they are waterproof (aka your foot won't get wet), the leather does get damp and takes very long time to dry out- unless you wax them with sno-seal, etc. The grip on the sole wears flat pretty quickly, and it is definitely a slippery sole on hard surfaces (I took several spills hiking here in new england, which is why I switched back to running shoes to hike in after those first ~100 miles). They are heavy...especially if the leather is wet- takes a toll on your legs if you are out in the woods...not so bad for an average work day though. I replaced the laces at least once on each pair. You have to re-lace them through the large hole in the eyelets instead of the way they come or you will break laces constantly! Expect at least a few days of break in time...get them wet/dirty and they break in quicker.

Description said it was a wide fit, size EE. I guess I need a EEE because I would definately not call these boots a wide fit. Too bad.

Both my wife and I purchased these boots while at your main store in Portland. They were shipped direct to us. After receiving them, we both wore them one time with your wool socks. The boots were, both to small and to narrow. We contacted you, returned them and received the same boots in a larger and wider size. Again we tried them out and they are great. Really, they did not need any breaking in and we both love them. The customer service person was very helpful in assisting us to exchange them and the complete transaction was effortless. We would not hesitate to recommend these to others.

I live in northern NJ where the winters get pretty harsh. I had purchased these boots about 2 years ago and they have been excellent. The most comfortable waterproof boots I have ever owned, including boots from larger companies.
I would recommend to all and will purchase another pair as soon as I wear out the current boots, which will be in about 1 year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BrJa3 Very well made!!!
These are exactly as advertised!
Very high quality materials and construction. Light weight and sturdy, yet can be worn even casually. I've owned a pair of beans full leather hikers for years and these feel as well made as those just with a little more versatility.
The fit is again exactly as advertised, I have been wearing mine now about 2 weeks and they are starting to break in very nicely, as was stated by bean.
I would highly recommend these as well as the full leather hikers depending on the need.

Rated 3 out of 5 by TC415 Single speed lace eyelet is problematic
While the sole is much better than my last pair of LL Bean hiking boots, the use of a single speed lace eyelet at the top is problematic. For whatever reason, they just don't feel as sturdy as my previous pairs that had more than one speed lace eyelet, and were cut slightly higher. This has been an issue on day hikes here in Colorado.

Rated 5 out of 5 by GThiker Rock on in these comfy hikers
I've owned hiking boots from familiar brands and these rank right up there with the best of them. Comfortable from the start, excellent traction, waterproof as advertised as I've sloshed through many a mountain stream in the Pacific Northwest's rugged terrain. Sorry I did not give these boots a try earlier in my hiking career. Looking forward to snowshoeing season.

Rated 5 out of 5 by HoseA My everyday shoes
I've owned these for the past 20 years at least. Because I wear them everyday, I usually buy a new pair a year. Well worth the price. They fit perfectly out of the box every time. They are good for work boots, hiking, biking and just every day wear. They are perfect in cold, wet, Colorado Winters.
Only shortfall: The boot hook has become smaller over the years and I can no longer get my finger in it to pull the boot on.
Hope they're paying attention.
