Rated 3 out of 5 by OREGONuser Good looking but too narrow
Every shoe/boot I have ordered in the widest width has been too narrow (men and women both). Very discouraging when the quality and looks are great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by djmusictogo Keeps feet dry and warm
I first purchased a 81/2 D width and had to return for an E width boot. Used these boots in snow and shallow mud and kept my feet dry and warm. Other reviews mentioned a need for break in time and that applies to my experience also. A well built boot.

Rated 3 out of 5 by johnnie5 Size issue - well made shoe
I'm new to hiking boots, but I have moved to the mountains and needed more shoe support. At Bean, where I buy because of tall sizes, I was unable to locate any of the boots that came in EEE wide. I ordered and tried three pairs, returninging them all. I felt bad about that.
Went to another site for the EEE width.
LLBean's products are usually very well made and sized, especially for tall people.

Rated 5 out of 5 by newbootbuyer Don't want to take them off
Walked a 3 mile road walk on the first wearing and had a small blister on my little toe. After the first wearing I just don't want to take them off. The boots are really comfortable and warm to wear. I wear a wool sock and my feet never got cold. The exterior temp was in the teens and I worked outside all day with no problem. When ordering I did get a 1/2 larger size than my sneakers.

This is my 3rd pair of this boot! last one was in 2000. Now older I had to get a size 10 Wide. fits great. Alittle break in 3 days and now its just like my 2000 boot. Also made in Italy. The quality is fantastic. evey seam from top of the sole is tight no sepeartion what so ever. I got 13 years out of the last pair. winter /snow blowing and wear to work the winter months in NY. the soles held up no matter what. And most important; water proof. My feet were always dry.
Bottom line even with no sales; Its worth every cent I paid for. I never get them on sale maybe my luck of the draw but this is my 3rd pair so it tells you something.

shoes are great ,but it seems all ll bean shoes have unusual rounded up toe box which I think looks and feels unnatural to a normal foots shape. My wife makes fun of me , calls them my clown shoes. would love like my hikers from llbean that the sole was more flat to the ground like a normal shoe. problem becomes worse over time. begins to irritate the top of your foot. please make soles flatter to the ground instead of soo rounded up .

Rated 5 out of 5 Fine shoe
This is the 4th pair that I've bought of this model of shoe. The quality and fit is unequaled. The price is, I'm sure, more than equaled by other similar shoes, but the made in a European country label on this shoe means a lot to me. I would be happy to go on, but do not believe that LL Bean wants me talk about countries of origin of shoes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by sunsetsailor These boots are going to last!
This is the 4th pair of boots I have purchased over the last 25 years for hiking & use in difficult winter weather conditions. This is the 2nd pair I have purchased from LL Bean (I still have the lower cut boot/shoe). I have been using the Gore Tex Mountain Treads for just over 2 months now & have been out in some nasty, winter conditions, from snow, to ice, to rain.
I found them a bit tight/stiff the first week, but now they are working in quite well. I use a thicker sock and luv the feel & comfort of this boot. I even wore them to work one day and my feet felt great 10 hours later!
I appreciate the construction of the exterior, the laces are sturdy and the inside of the boot has enough cushion to provide comfort with any sock I wear. I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where winter is long & cold. I am glad I spent an extra dollar or two for these boots. I can already tell & feel....they will be warm & stand up to our "UP winters" for many years to come.

Purchased based on color, styling, and fit in store. I wore them for about a week, and could not wait to get them off after about an hour, they were that painful. I wear a size 9D, and have never returned a pair of shoes until now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SkyMonkey Superb boots!!!
I recently purchased a pair of these boots in the graphite color. I have been wearing them for about a week and I absolutely love them. I normally wear a size 9 1/2 mens, but based on previous reviews, I decided to get size 10. This was a good choice. When I initially put them on, they felt big and tight. The product description was correct when they said to give them time to break them in. Regardless of the type of sock, the 1/2 size bigger was the perfect choice. They also feel completely different after breaking them in for a week. I can only imagine how comfortable they will feel after a month. The loop on the back of the boot that is supposed to help you pull them on has no value. It is too small to put a finger in, and these boots slip on easily when the top lace is undone. I have not tested the waterproof feature yet, but I'm confident they will do what they are supposed to do, which is keep my feet dry. Not only do they feel great, they look awesome as well. This is a well made boot and you can't go wrong spending the $200 current price. I strongly recommend these boots if this is the price range for you.
