This is my 4th purchase of an LL Bean Waterhog Mat. I absolutely love them! They are sturdy, sturdy, sturdy!! I just had new wall to wall carpet installed and wanted to keep the mud/snow, salt off of it as much as possible as Fall/Winter will be here soon. A quick shake or vacuum is all that is needed to keep them clean. If you get a muddy mess on them, just take them outside and hose them off. I also use them to set my two window air conditioners on when taking them out for the winter. I used to haul the heavy air conditioners from upstairs (2-story colonial) to the garage and now that I'm getting older, the air conditioners are too heavy to lug down a flight of stairs!
So I just put a mat under the window and then take the air conditioner out and store it right there under the window on a water hog mat. No muss/no fuss. Should any moisture or water drip from the air conditioner, the water hog mat handles it with ease. If you're on the fence about purchasing one of these because of the cost, don't. Go for it -- they're worth every penny!

Rated 5 out of 5 by OntarioA Have dog/s? Buy a waterhog mat!
Just about a year ago I bought the biggest possible sizes for the entry space inside our front and back doors. All the muddy pawprints, leaves, snow and grime rub off on the mats (not elsewhere in the house!) when dogs and people come in and I couldn't be happier! When they need more than a vacuum (only twice now) I take 'em outside, put a dot of dish soap here n' there, hose them off, then leave in the sun to dry - the dirtiest mat will look brand new again! I love that the mats lay totally flat, no corner curl, and are easily cleared even by low doors. My mother, aunt, and in-laws all have a waterhog now too.
Slight drawbacks: not super soft (would only use at entrances) but still OK for bare feet; rubber backing holds in place on hardwood and linoleum, but may move a little on tile; have to use edging wand when vacuuming to get grass and such out from between waffle weave grooves, or shake outside.

Rated 5 out of 5 by JeniM Wonderful mat!
This is the second time I've purchased a water hog mat from Bean. The first was a small-ish mat that I used just inside a door. It was a great purchase, so when I recently moved to a new home I realized I needed a much larger mat to place inside my back door in a mud room area. I didn't think I'd find exactly the size I needed because it's a larger area. Wonder of wonders, I found one that is essentially 4' x 4' in size. It fits the area like a glove -- wall to wall and extends far enough into the space to give plenty of room for removing shoes, bringing in wet umbrellas, etc. without wear to my hardwood floor. The color is also gorgeous, a beautiful green that works with my decor in that area. The mat doesn't allow ANY moisture to seep through to the floor underneath while being very attractive. I highly recommend the Water Hog mats!

Rated 5 out of 5 Mud season
I live on a farm. The worst gets tracked into my home, i.e. mud, manure, hay. In March I bought two 4'x 11' EverySpace Waterhogs, just in time for the rainy season. I placed one at my mudroom entrance and the other in the front door foyer, just in time to endure four times the amount of normal rainfall. I am pleased to share that the dark high traffic trails that normally show up across my family room and living room carpets, did not. The Waterhogs do, however, tend to migrate sideways a bit, and the extra large size has an obvious seam space.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Nala Khaki color is a great neutral
Having had a small waterhog rug for years, I bought two of these in the khaki color. It is a tweedy look (great for hiding dirt) in yarns of tan, gray, beige, and light brown. I think it would blend well with most of today's toned-down interior colors. And, of course, the mat does its job beautifully in grabbing mud while lying flat and stable. Very happy with the purchase, and wish I'd done it sooner.
