Rated 5 out of 5 by bluedun Scrapped my jeans for these
I needed a looser fit for my active life and cargo pockets to stash the iPhone, so I already had a few pair of these and just ordered another. They hold up to chores. The all-cotton fabric washes clean well. They sit comfortably on a long drive to somewhere out there, hike the distance, dress up, too, and suit this mild San Francisco Bay Area climate. Yay, all the way 'round!
But, do size up one inch for shrinkage, as others have commented: waist and length.

I got these pants in 36X32 and, out of the bag, they fit just fine.
Given that they're cotton, however, I immediately washed them (in cold water) to make sure that they'd still fit after laundering. Unfortunately, they shrunk to the point where both the waist and inseam are now too short.
I like the material and the styling -- the cargo pockets provide good travel capability and look much better than the usual patch pockets on cargo pants made for backpacking and heavyweight outdoor usage. They're very comfortable, too. But I'd advise buyers to heed the caveats of other reviewers and get a size larger in both waist and inseam to make sure they fit after washing.
I sent my pants back for a refund -- but immediately ordered two additional pairs in the larger size!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Nebulosa alas the pockets
I have had four pairs of these pants, and I like them enough to have just ordered two more pair. However, there is one annoying problem: the fabric of the pockets is so fragile that they soon shred into holes, dumping my change on the floor. I have repeatedly sewed a line of stitches above the tear, but a new tear soon opens above the stiches. This has happened to all of the pairs of these pants that I have bought, but never happens to any other pants I have, dress or casual. Since I carry the same pocket change and car keys in these pants as in all others, I must conclude that the fabric is just too thin and undurable. On my just-ordered pants, I propose not to carry more than a few coins, and keep my keys somewhere else.

Rated 3 out of 5 by smmath Nice design but a bit tight for the indicated size
These pants are pretty much as advertised. I ordered the same size (36 x 30) I normally buy in the LLBean comfort waist jeans, which provide a nice comfortable and expandable fit. These Canvas Comfort Waist Pathfinder Cargo Pants are much tighter and barely fit around the waist -- the design is not the same as for the jeans and provide much less stretch in the waist. Not sure what to do as the next size is 38, which would be too large for me. May have to return these.

I've worn these pants for years and they have been perfect. However, a couple of years ago LL Bean quit handling them in 36 inch length. I;m 6'3" with a 36 inch inseam. I tried a pair of 34's and they are just too short. I would buy several pairs if Bean would go back to that length. I'm sure they are at the mercy of their provider, but I know I'm not the only tall person who likes these pants. Come on LL bean. I'm not your only tall customer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Stanrf Bad design of Front Cargo Pocket Flap
The front cargo pockets flaps are SEWN at each end and that makes it extremely difficult to insert your hand into the pocket. I expect the ends were sewn to eliminate the occasional lifting of the flap ends. I cut the rear sewn end, folded it to avoid the material flaring and sewed the folded flap.
The result is my hand can now more easily enter the pocket.
The correct solution is to avoid the sewn ends and place a piece of velcro at the end of each pocket flap and eliminate the velcro in the middle of the flap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LovesRotties Casual pants, look nicer than jeans but more comfy
I purchased these pants in Canyon Khaki for my husband who is very picky about clothes but hates to shop. He loves them so much I ordered a pair in Basil and will probably be back for more colors. The look of the pants is a tad nicer than jeans but more casual than dress chinos. They are also more comfortable for him than jeans because of the soft fabric. I carefully took his measurements before ordering and the size (36/30) recommended by the chart fit perfectly.

i have issues with pants - i am a gentleman of generous circumference, and i spend most of my time in a wheelchair. thus, it is challenging to find trousers (or pants) that look snappy, that fit, and that don't cause welts to form on my substantial belly parts. these pants meet these requirements perfectly. best of all, thanks to the "comfort waist" i don't need a belt (the buckle of which is the culprit in the welt-causing). can i say i am very satisfied? yes. yes, i can. thanks, leon!

Rated 3 out of 5 by sbwaters No cargo pockets, please
I like the pants but the cargo pockets are clunky and unwieldy. Actually, the side cargo pockets are where, after repeated washings, the fabric breaks down,
I'd pay extra not to have the side cargo pockets.

Rated 2 out of 5 by BrianBlade Not really comfort fit
I do like them but they are not typical comfort fit. My wife and I had difficulty finding the stretch panels and they don't really stretch. They are nice pants but they do not fit as I expected them to.
