These boots are sturdy and well made, but not clunky over engineered "logger" boots. They look great with chinos/khakis, jeans, anything but also solid enough for outdoors/work. Break in pretty quick and comfortable for all day wear once broken in.

Rated 4 out of 5 by KennethAL Great boots but first pair were defective.
I've heard a lot about Chippewa boots so I was excited to finally be able to buy a pair. When they arrived I immediately noticed that the tongue of the left boot was sewn on incorrectly; that pair has been returned. I've since ordered another pair, but was obviously disappointed.
Notwithstanding the defect, the boots are extremely high quality and comfortable, which is why I gave them a second chance.

Really nice boots. They look great and require only a really short break in period. Stout and durable and comfortable. Plus, made in the USA. And backed by LL Bean's excellent customer service. Can't go wrong.

Break in was hard but worth the pain.
My feet look great on these boots.
I like everything about them; construction, style, the pictures on the site do not do justice.
Can be worn with pretty much anything.
Only issue regarding break in is the back collar, but i have been tightening them up so that they mold to my foot right .
Worth every dollar and again I say !
I love everything about my boots!
As far as LL Bean service:
The best!! They will guarantee you are satisfied !

These are old school boots. When you first pick them up you are amazed that shoes used to be so heavy and inflexible in the soles. After about a half day, they are the most comfortable footwear ever. I'll take them any day over those heavily padded boots that are so popular these days. The support these provide make your feet, ankles and knees feel better, and my feet are drier, after a walk through dew soaked grass, than they would be with some of the "waterproof" boots sold today. I can also assure anyone that these will be around long after today's shoes fall apart. After using these, I went to my basement and located some of my 30 year old hunting boots that had been mothballed, oiled them up and plan on using them for winter walks in the woods. Break-in was quick; everyone should experience these boots once in their life.

Stiff for the first week but very comfortable after that. I measure 15 narrow but in these boots wear a 14d.

If you seriously need an outdoor work boot, these boots are calling your name. These are the boots your grandfather wore in the furrow following a team of horses. Wearing these I can still feel my grandfather holding my hand. I am 71.

I just sent back my SECOND pair immediately upon receiving them. Each time I open the box and the stitching has been missing, falling out, gaping, re-stitched. This is some of the poorest craftsmanship I have come across. Buyer beware. Save your money.

Quality boots, I found the fit to be right on. They do require time to break in as many have stated but I did not have any problems that some have mentioned in their reviews. Great boot and very comfortable. I am really pleased with this purchase, I have been wanting these boots for some time.

After several weeks of debate, I elected to purchase these boots about 1 year ago. They have held up well as they should for the price you pay. Required about a 2 week "breaking in" period to achieve complete comfort. If I have any complaint it would be that the laces tend to frequently come off the eyelet hooks. Certainly not a deal breaker. The leather develops its own patina over time. You can apply Nikwax for some waterproofing like I have done. Just keep in mind that this will darken the leather. In the end, you get what you pay for and these boots are worth every dollar. Plan to own a pair of these boots for as long as I am able to walk.
