I love these boots, I love the soles! MY issue with them is I wore the Chippewa versions for a long time and were by far way better! The stitching is far more superior in the Chippewa boots. I purchased a pair of these Katahdin boots last year and the threads are coming undone at 6 months and the laces snapped at 9 weeks. I personally feel they are not worth the amount they are charging. Keep in mind this is the only pair of shoes I own, I walk, hike, and am a roofer. I like the ankle height and the tightness in the ankle but the sticking for some reason just falls apart especially in the toe then the heel.
I use leather cleaning products on them and make sure they are hydrated to prevent the following from happening but still without effort just fall apart! I have got about $8 worth of gorilla glue holding them in place. I am thinking its worth just taking my Chippewas in get them cobbled instead of paying for a new pair of these. With all the hipsters these days and their lack of manual labour it suits their needs better and their trust funds haha.
Great design just poor stitching. Just my 2 cents.

Great boot all round.
Two problems that are frustrating. One, the laces don't last nearly as long as the boot, so include extra laces. Two, the double stitched on toe cap gives way when the boot is still serviceable otherwise, so triple stitch the toe cap!!

These boots are just what I was looking for. A great, tough outdoor boot with classic styling; not covered with dozens of seams to rip out.. If you are looking for a fine boot for any outdoor activity, this boot will fit the bill. Good foot bed inside, tough leather outside and comfortable right off. I'm ordering another pair of boots from this line.

I have owned these boots for many years(first pair) and they are very nice. It is difficult to find this type and style unless you are in true "farm/ranch country. They hold up, can be re soled and are just comfortable and feel good once broken in. The three hook and eyelet set up is the best and has been for 100 yrs! The style is timeless, and the use for these is whatever you can imagine. The cork sole is one of the best for comfort and normal wear because it does not track dirt, mud and debris...like a lug or vibram type does. That being said, they may not be the best for wilderness hiking in rugged areas. I use them for everyday wear, light hiking and yard, farm, ranch type work. I recommend them, however...I must say that the pricing is getting ridiculous...double what I paid for the first pair! While they are nice boots and made in the USA, the price puts them out of reach for many..It is what it is...

The boots fit true to size. I wear size 10M and L.L. Bean recommend to buy what size I normally wear. I am happy with my purchase and am super glad I got size 10 instead of another size.

Extremely comfortable shoe. Would recommend to everyone. Searched long and hard for a comfortable lace up boot and tried on many before I broke down and ordered on line. Am not disappointed!! Reviewers are right on about fit. It runs a little long so order 1/2 size shorter than what you would ordinarily wear. For me I would usually go up to a 10 but ordered my regular size 9&1/2. Fit great.

Rated 2 out of 5áby harleyrider2000 Worst boots I've ever owned.
To preface my review I would like to say I've been wearing work boots for construction more than 40 years so I have some experience. I bought these boots last year and hoped they would be as good as the reviews. I was sadly disappointed. Within the first two weeks the seam across the toe started to unravel. Not very damp proof after the seam goes.
The laces are a stiff material that stay tied just great, but they jump off the eye hooks as you work so count on tying them dozens of times during the day. OK, your thinking replace the laces already. $230 boots and now I have to buy laces too.
I like to wear my boots loose at the top and these boots won't allow that because of the hooks at the top. This is where the discomfort comes from. Even with better laces they will not stay on the hooks without pulling the laces up tight.
The positive is the soles last forever. Unfortunately, in my case, you get to throw them away before you can bear to wear them out. The leather is super tough, but weak stitching defeats that.
I live in Texas so thick socks are not an option for me so your experience in Maine might be better because of the cushion from a thicker sock. For me, I can't wait to get these off at the end of the day.
These could have been good for 2-3 years given the great soles and leather. This would have made them a good value even at $230, but even if I could take another year of the discomfort and the annoyance of tying them all day, I can't live with the toe flopping because the seam is almost totally gone. Safety issue, not to mention the embarrassment since I own the company. Time to find a new pair. Their are better boots at half the price so overall this is a two star deal.
