I would not recommend this gun case. I purchased the same gun case from LL Bean many years ago and have been very happy with my previous purchase. Thought I was getting the same product as before. The new version is not leather but vinyl and the one shipped to me had a large black stain on it right out of the plastic bag. I'm returning for a refund.

I got this case specifically for my G grade Parker SXS. It fits the gun well, breathes and is adequately padded. The zipper is easy to use as well. The 112 year old gun gets treated well and is not handled or transported carelessly. I have several other "mature" SXS guns as well as some 100 year old Winchester pumps. I will be acquiring these cases for their storage and careful transport. I would like them better if the exterior pouch were a bit larger for storage of a bore snake plus some ammunition. As the pouch is, one or the other will fit but not both. Very nice gun case. After I worked with the carrying strap a bit I think it's a nice feature, allowing me to comfortably carry the cased gun over my shoulder.
The quality of materials in the case is excellent with a thick waxed cotton shell and soft leather exterior. The interior is smooth and soft. Both interior pockets should be large enough for most takedown guns. If you are concerned about fit, get the longer case.

Rated 4 out of 5 by funson May be an unfortunate choice
This may be an unfortunate choice due to the one thing this case does not protect your fire arm from, itself. The product is water proof to a point. The case is well padded and should protect you firearm from outside problems. It is a very handsome looking case & seems to be well built. The only problem is that due to its manner of construction on the inside, if you have high dollar wood on your gun, the rivets in the separator will make marks on your stock. Use of a gun sock may help resolve the problem. Maybe the manufacturer could have put a strip of leather over the rivets.

Well made, good quality material, good protection for my Beretta.
32" barrels fit nicely. 34" barrels probably would not fit.
I have the same case in the 30" size; I use it for for 28" Browning and SKB barrels, they barely fit. 30" barrels will not!
The side pocket does not have very much space. A cloth in a plastic bag is about all that will fit inside the pocket.
For my purposes it works well.

Rated 2 out of 5 by ShotgunArge Interior is too rough
I love the look and function of this case. My only criticism, but it's a show stopper, is that the interior too rough for fine guns. I've only had this case a few weeks and I have already noticed rub marks on the stock of my DT10. Unlike most cases, this one isn't lined with a soft material (i.e. flannel or wool). That alone might not be a problem. However, the rough seams and divider rivets exposed on the inside will do damage to your wood over time.
I am conflicted because it is the best looking takedown case I've seen. Unfortunately, I can't afford to ruin my guns because of a poor interior design. This case will be going back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by JiminHouston Well made, sturdy, affordable and attractive
I recently purchased a side by side with a nice hard sided leather and canvas case, much too nice to take into the field. I looked around at several places for takedown cases. The LL Bean case wins hands down on quality of construction and features, including the leather trim and the buckle closure on the outer pocket (a nearly identical but more expensive case has only a Velcro closure). I also like the fact that the heavy duty zipper has a cloth cover, where it extends inside the case, so that it won't come into contact with the stock in the case.
Although my shotgun barrel is exactly 28" end to end, I chose the 34"case, since there were several comments that anything even slightly longer than 28" might have trouble getting into the 28" case.. I would have ordered a 30" had it been available, but the 34" case is not excessively long. The external pocket is very shallow; I can get a set of chokes in a soft case and a choke wrench in it, but nothing else. Also, there is no handle to carry the case, only the shoulder strap. There is a center ring on the case, but due to the size of the clasp on the shoulder strap, it can't be threaded through it. One other case (did I mention it was more expensive and not as well made) does have this feature.
Anyway, I am very satisfied with this case. It is the equal in the quality of construction of another "upmarket" case that I have for my other shotgun, and it actually looks better.

You can buy a less expensive take-down case, but the quality of this case will be remembered long after the price is forgotten. The design, materials, workmanship are top-notch. This is a case you will be proud to own.

Rated 5 out of 5 by PogCarr Good price / Excellent Quality
I bought one of LL Beans takedown waxed canvas shotgun cases a few years ago for one of my guns. It has been an excellent case. Ruggen, weatherproof and durable. When I needed another case for a new gun I looked around at all the online discount suppliers and could not find a better deal on as high quality a case. Even though I looked elsewhere for something as good or better, I came back to LL Bean for this excellent product!
Please do note that the length given for the case is THE ABSOLUTE LIMIT of how long the barrel can be and still manage to zip the case. Select accordingly. Might be nice if they offered one intermediary length as well.

The Case is great Quality? just a tad short? if you have 28" Barrels you must order the 34" Case? This caught me off guard.
This 100+ year old shotgun has always been stored Broken-down in a Leg O' Mutton Case. The Original Leather Boot was worn and broken down? but I felt a tinge of nostalgia as I first slid the Shotgun into an L.L.Bean Case? Great Features for the continued use and protection of this fine old piece.

I bought this case to fit a fixed choke 28" barrel. The case is too short and the zipper does not close. The barrel is exactly 28".
