Rated 1 out of 5 by CaveatTalonWager Rethinking my last review after more use
This is a good example of why a product should be used more than once before a review is written about it. I just reviewed this bag the other day after a day trip with it. Once the bag was used for an over-nighter, I have completely changed my opinion about it.
This bag has so many design flaws that I am sending it back.
As a person that does international travel I need a bag that A: holds a lot, B: doesn't take up much space on an airplane, C: is easy to get in and out of and, D: LOCKS,
This bag failed miserably in the C, and D category. Here's why:
The outer compartments both on the front and back, and the sides are not well thought out. The front and back pockets are terribly hard to open and close, with the zippers getting snagged-up in the corners. A rather large and totally unnecessary flap of fabric over-hangs these zippers making them difficult and cumbersome to access. I had a wrestling match with the bag every time I wanted to get something in or out of these front and back pockets.
The end pockets have one gusseted side each. If you put something in them that is not small and flat, the zippers open by themselves due to this odd gusseted feature. Do you want your stuff falling out of your bag when you travel? And All four outside pockets are not sized well...they are too small, not making good use of the space provided by the size of the bag.
There is another annoying feature of this bag. The buckles for the shoulder strap are placed directly above the two end pockets on each side. I found myself constantly shoving them out of the way any time I wanted to access and use those pockets (assuming that my stuff hadn't already fallen out for the reasons mentioned above).
I have no idea why anyone would make a bag that is clearly intended for airline travel and not put locking zippers on it. This to me is a major oversight.
If you want an over-sized lunch bag and don't need extra outside pockets that are useful, than this may be the bag for you. But if you do travel and need a bag that is easy to get in and out of and holds your items securely, then your search continues.

Rated 4 out of 5 by CaveatTalonWager Nice little bag with a few flaws
First of all, I have to say that I borrowed a bag similar to this one made by a competitor for a recent trip overseas and I loved that bag so much. I was excited to find this bag, as I had to return the borrowed one. This bag is comparable in size to my friend's bag and some of the features are similar.
I ordered the "red" in this bag. It is indeed red I guess, but I would say that the red is more of a burgundy. It's a pretty color but doesn't match the red on the website. just so you know that.
The bag has an ample outside pocket on both the front and back. This is a great thing, but means that there is no flap on the back of the bag to run a roller suitcase handle through...a trade-off. The pockets have a flap that covers the zippers. I'm not sure of the purpose of this, as it really just makes the zippers harder to open and close. One must pull the flap back to move the zippers along and they do tend to get a bit caught up on the corners. While this is not a big deal really, it is a minor annoyance, as it slows down the process of getting into the bag. This feature along with the fact that this bag doesn't have the zipper holes where the bag can be locked, knocks it down from five stars to four. Any bag intended for International travel (which I believe this bag is) should lock. Period This is a major oversight of this bag design.
There are two end pockets which are smaller than the front and back ones, but are big enough to be useful. The top "sealed from spills" pocket is a nice feature. Airlines now want all liquids in baggies and at times the TSA will want to look at how your liquids are stored. It is easy to pull them out of this top pocket to show them. The top pocket does eat into the space of the main compartment.
The main compartment has a couple of dividers on the sides inside which is nice for keeping items separate.
The one thing that I've found about bags this size is how much they hold. I am always amazed at how much can be stored in this thing...a change of clothes, toiletries and additional things like an tablet, etc. It is not big enough for a full sized laptop.

I really love my new carry-on bag. It holds a lot, has many good features, and I especially like the arrangement of the zippers which allows me to put small locks on several compartments. The bag doesn't necessarily need locking, but if I want to, I can lock parts of it!! Thanks.

I commute to work each day by bus. I used a back pack previoiusly, and before that, a messenger style bag. Neither really satisfied my purposes. I pack my lunch and a thermos for coffee. I have a variety of things I like to have with me every day. This bag is great. It has side pockets with zippers for places to tuck things, end pockets where more stuff can be stored. Inside are nice pockets on each side. Plus there is plenty of room to spare. There is plenty of room for my needs. I think it will double as a great carry on bag when I travel. I chose the green bag with orange trim. It looks good. The shoulder strap keeps the bag in place, but it also has shorter handles for a quick grab and go... And it has already proven to be sturdy. My dog dragged it off the table and managed to get into the candy I had inside... but he did not rip or ruin it in any way (much to my relief)

It holds a lot of things and fits under the airline seat in front. The multiple compartments help to organize your stuff and make access easier. I used the plastic-lined food pocket on top to keep items I needed handy, such as my headphones and music player. The bag held my 10" tablet in its case as well as my toiletry bag and nylon jacket, among other things. I had room for a charger, batteries, note paper and some clothes.

I've discovered, as I age, the need for space, to accommodate medicines, ointments and toiletries, to grow. My old ditty bag did the trick for so many years till my need for space out grew the bag. This new bag hits the spot. It's stable does not roll, fall off the counter or make accessing a challenge. It's all in front of you and easy to access. If you are like me and need a bag for a full shaving cream can, shampoo, razor etc. This is the bag for you. Easy to handle and convenient for travel.

I bought this bag for a little bit of a different purpose than most, as a trumpet mute bag. For this, it is great. I am able to hold enough mutes for your typical musical including a Derby. It has several different pockets as well for your pencil, oil, grease etc. So, if anyone is looking for a great mute bag, look no further.

Awesome day bag perfect for overnight, carry on flying, camping, anywhere! The leak proof compartment is a great bonus for spilled shampoo or soap. Tons of zippered compartments and very well built. I would not hesitate to get larger ones for expedition travel. Thanks LL Bean, great quality! Will buy bigger to match for longer travel along with another one of these for myself as my wife won't give it back!

I finally have found the perfect carry-on bag. So many pockets to keep you organized. You can't see in the picture, but there are pockets on all 4 sides-inside and outside and a snack pocket on top. It is still small enough to fit under the plane seat. I loaded all my travel gear and have lots of room left for extra last minute items. Seems well constructed and the usual high quality Bean product. I also like the fact that the position of the zipper pulls will allow me to use a lock. Love my new bag!

A nice bag for traveling or just running around town or anything you need to tote around. The pocket in the top flat is lined and can hold (2) 16 oz bottles. It has 4 pockets inside, 3 mesh (2 width-wise and 1 length-wise) and 1 length-wise deep slip pocket. There is no Velcro or zippers on any of the inside pockets so they have a tendency to sag. Interior is medium gray. There is no hard bottom piece that you can fold up for storage so I put a piece of cardboard in it to help give more stability.
There are 4 outside pockets, 1 on each side, all zippered. The end pockets unzip the entire width of the bag and are gusseted on one side to the top of the pocket. Really nice! Both of the other 2 length-wise pockets have a lip over the zipper (which makes it harder to unzip) and unzip almost to the bottom which allows for easy access. They are both gusseted but only about 2" so items can easily fall out if completely unzipped. The front pocket (where the logo is) has a key fob, slip pocket and zippered mesh pocket that goes about half the length of the pocket and 3 pen holders beside those. The back pocket is just a plain pocket. My biggest disappointment is that it is too soft sided and wants to collapse when empty. I was hoping for something more stiff.
The over-the-shoulder strap pad does not slide on the strap and therefore, when you want to adjust it, it needs to be adjusted on both sides of the pad instead of just one and sliding the pad where you want it
I wish the description would at least tell you how many pockets there are both inside and out and if they are zippered, Velcro close, etc. The pictures in the dark colors make it hard to see the details.
After I got this bag I ordered the Carryall II Accessory Bag which I like better because it is stiffer sided even though it is a little smaller and has no inside pockets. I'm sending this bag back. It's a nice bag but not what I was wanting.
