Rated 5 out of 5 by NorthlandHiker Discover Ski Set - stable, easy to maneuver, fun
I purchased these skis as part of LL Bean's "Discovery Ski Set" package and couldn't be happier. The skis have performed well on hills and flat in temps from 32° to 10° below zero. The boots are comfortable and keep my feet warm and dry in all conditions. The bindings are very good. The poles are strong and well made. Until buying this set I had always skied on longer, classic cross-country ski's with three pin bindings. After well over a decade of using my older equipment, I broke a pole (graphite composite) last year and somehow one of the bindings bent making it difficult to secure. I seldom ski on groomed trails anymore; it's out the back door and into the woods (tree farm) for most outings and sometimes out on the lake. We didn't have much snow last year, but this season is great - I have skied several times a week since these arrived - so they have had a lot of use already. Highly recommended.

I have never skied before. These skis feel sturdy and are easy to use. They grip great on an uphill and glide well on the downhill. Their width seems to do well making my 235lb frame "float" on the snow well. Compared to my snowshoes these skis seem to defy logic and ride on the snow without sinking in very far. I purchased as part of the X5 package and am very pleased with all the components. I was worried that at my weight I would end up not being able to use these (that rating on the 190cm says 180lb+). They seems to shrug off my weight and perform well. Thanks LLBean!

The Rossignal Discovery skis are worth every penny. I mostly do back country skiing where there are no trails and am loaded down with a backpack and a rifle along with my own 200 lb weight. The discovery skis float great and are wonderful for ascending hills. I can't speak highly enough of them. Thanks Rossignal and LL Bean for a great product.

love, love, love them. had to return one pair because a binding didn't seem to hold every time, replaced quickly, and everything is great. I've had mine two years and can't wait for more snow to ski in!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by Cusefan better options
We are a skiing family and own four pairs of Rossignol. I skied on the Discovery, the EVO Tour and the EVO Action all on the same day this week. The tour and action are both far superior in all aspects. They have better glide and lose nothing on the uphill climb. Use will enjoy these other two options (available from Bean) much more, you will simply will not have to work as hard and have far superior results.

These are great all-around skis. They do well in tracks, out of tracks, and in a couple feet of powder. I like the shorter lengths too. Great Ski!
