Rated 5 out of 5 by RomRom Excellent Slippers!
I love everything about these slippers. They fit well (I have wide feet) and stay on without becoming soft and overly stretched-out like some leather moccasins so often do. The soles stand up to the occasional walk to the mailbox. The insoles are good, don't stick to wet feet and pull out when you remove your foot. Next time I',m going to get some fleece lined for the colder months!

I purchased the leather doubled-soled bison slippers approximately six months ago. Other reviewers stated the laces come untied and the sizes run slightly large. Both true in my case; however I find them extremely comfortable and the break-in period was next to nil.
What is unacceptable is that in this period, one hole has worn in the heel and the other appears to about to have one. Since I'm retired, they are worn constantly. They are not worn outside and I do not think wearing these inside on carpeted / hard floors is an extreme condition.
I am not sending them back for replacement nor is there a store in Ohio to take them to. I will have a leather patch sewn to both heels. Sorry LL Beane, this product is unacceptable.

the pair of moccasins i received fit wonderfully, but the amount of texture was like some part of an elephant, nothing like the website picture represents. they were very comfortable and my feet were happy in them, but every time i looked down, i thought, "i don't like the texture; i'd rather have smooth ones" that part is another story as the sizing does not appear to be consistent across the double soled moccasins (which leads me to question overall build quality as sizing consistency is a build quality concern).

Rated 5 out of 5 by RTHawk Finally, I am happy!!
Indulge me for a story. I have wanted a pair of these slippers for about fifteen years. I am not a shopper. I don't buy a lot of "stuff". When I am looking for a particular item, I research, I compare, I find the brand/style I want and will not be satisfied with anything else. Picky, I suppose. Discerning, I prefer.
When putting out my Christmas wish list fifteen years ago, I told my now ex-wife I wanted these L L Bean bison moccasins. She communicated something to my mother. What I received that Christmas was a pair of light tan moccasin style slippers with some type of nylon or plastic soles. I appreciated the gift but have clip-clopped thru the house for all those years wishing I had what I had wanted.
This past Christmas, my Mom and my sister together gave me an L L Bean gift certificate. When I was choosing how to spend it, the bison moccasins were first on the list. I love them!!
Now, a comment about size to help others. I have a narrow foot. If I have a choice on width, I would typically go with a B or C. I would also choose a 9 1/2. Because many of the reviewers spoke of these initially being a tight fit and because I knew I would usually wear them with wool socks, I upsized to a 10. They felt loose on my feet. I don't care for that. I don't like a shoe that move and slips on my foot. So, I exchanged them for a size 9. Perfect!! Now I can move quietly thru the house, even on the hardwood and tile floors. Thank you.

After four months, I'm very happy with the quality and comfort of this slipper. Well constructed and gives good food support. It was comfortable from day one and did not require any break-in period. Probably the best slipper I've ever worn. My only niggling complaint is that the thick leather laces tend to come undone frequently. Double knotting the laces seems to be working so far.

I had no problem "adjusting" to these mocs. The bison is so durable yet so supple. There was a card that said to consider break-in period and yes, most shoes have that but somehow these did not. I feel like I was born in these. The double sole is perfect for that extra protection, you can even wear them in dry areas outside. Will never be returning these, ever.

I am on my second pair of these slippers and they seem to wear out quickly. Right now I am waiting to replace a pair that I purchased 11/19/12, just a little over a year ago.
The left slipper now has two worn holes in it.I will have to bring them into an LLBean store for a refund because the do not have a replacement pair in my size. I am very unhappy I purchased the Bison slippers because I thought they would last for quite a while .

Another reviewer complained about these slippers being shoddily made because the soles didn't survive his trips to the post office, which is like complaining about a wool sweater shrinking in the wash; if you have something nice, you ought to take care of it. I'm a year into having mine (one of the best Christmas gifts I've ever received) and I feel like they'll last for decades. It's rare that something this sturdy is also this comfortable. A different reviewer mentioned applying buffalo butter, which I'll definitely look in to. If you're running errands, consider wearing shoes.

Great slippers, very comfortable. The laces wouldn't stay tied so i just took them out...they were just a decoration anyway. When the lining wore through, i called the company and they sent me a new pair at no cost. They even paid shipping. I would recommend buying any and all products from L.L. Bean just for the outstanding customer support. I'm looking forward to doing future business with them and enjoying more of their great products.

I have had several pairs of these and found them to be comfortable to wear around the house. The sole always wears out before the rest of the shoe, just wearing it inside the house on carpet and hardwood floors. So if you feel like $45 per year is a fair fee to keep these on your feet, then you will be happy.
On a second note, the decorative leather laces will come untied constantly; my solution is to treat the knot with super glue when I first take them from the box and you'll have no problem ever.
