I generally like these shirts, but they simply don't fit my slim, medium build. They are much too roomy in the body and, after several washings, the sleeves on the mediums were too short. While I buy lots of items from L.L. Bean, I no longer purchase any shirts from them as I simply can't find any that meet my requirements. If these shirts were available in a slim fit, I might try them again.

I ordered three of these last year. The black wore out already and I'm returning it. I ordered another black and am wearing it now. SURPRISE Last year I returned the XL tall and L tall for being so long and baggy, and instead selected the L reg. I'm 6'4". This time I ordered an L reg and it is clearly different from the L reg from last year (made in the same country). It is less baggy and the neck is less sloppy than last year's effort. I'm keeping it and might order another. The variation in construction of these shirts is frustrating.

Maybe this shirt is not meant for guys with a slimmer build, but my husband could literally swim in the medium size, which is his usual size. Overall it had a very frumpy look and the fabric was thin. Having trouble with the sizing on some products lately, just glad they have not starting putting that dreaded spandex in mens' clothing.

I ordered 2 of these and although I like the colors, the shirts are too long. My wife said, "Please don't wear those in public."
At 6 ft. 1 in. and 200 lbs. I usually wear an extra large -- but I ordered the Tall based on Bean's size chart for the sleeve length. The sleeves were fine it was the length of the tails that did me in. I would expect the tails to be 3 to 4 inches below my belt. These were 6 to 8 inches.
The fabric is also heavier than a normal polo.
As other reviewers mentioned -- they don't shrink. Before returning the one I tried to wear, I had my wife wash it on the hot setting for the washer and dryer. It didn't shrink.

No doubt about it. LL Bean polo shirts are the best. I've been buying them for many years and they have always been excellent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by gpagpa True to size great looking shirt
After reading the reviews regarding the sizing, I decided to go with a M. After receiving, it was too tight, so I would say that it is true to size and does not run big. Large fit perfectly.

This is by far the best polo on the market. It is true to size and is consistently the best material of any brand that I have tried. And you can't beat the price.

Less quality, Less colors, Less in stock. The Old L.L. Bean is long gone. This is not a good value. Thinner & shorter tails.

Bought the shirt for my husband - but it was way too long and colors, Wallace Tartan, too bright.
