Rated 5 out of 5áby lovescorgis My new favorite jacket! Please add a hood!
My husband spied this coat in the store and asked me to try it. I was leery at first, but after I tried it on I bought it. It is so warm and comfy. Very easy to move in. Just wore it out today and the snow beads up and I stayed warm and dry. I too wish it had a hood, sometimes it is a pain to carry a hat, when I am walking the dog I get caught unaware with the cold wind. It would make it better by far. Love the zippered pockets, that is always a must for me as well. I think this will be my new favorite jacket.

Rated 4 out of 5áby stephaniejk Fits great once you find the right size!
I've been eyeing this jacket for a few years and finally decided to go for it. I originally ordered XL, and it was so large that I sent it back. I was really nervous that the L would also be too big, since the shoulders were so big on the XL. I wasn't confident that my chest would fit in the M, but I didn't see an opportunity for L petite, so I went for the M. It fits perfectly! I probably wouldn't be able to fit a bulky sweater on underneath, but there's no reason to either. This coat is really warm, and I'm excited that it's also water repellent. I would probably give 5 stars, am only reserving one because the weather hasn't given me the opportunity to wear this in earnest yet.

Rated 5 out of 5áby Earthdoggies Super warm, heavy jacket
This jacket is boxy but not too short and it can be tightened around the hem with the drawcord. Sleeves are long, but not so long that they completely cover my hands.I love the snap tab closures on the roomy front pockets.Even though the jacket is heavy I can still work, move my arms to lift and carry items. It does have a waxed smell to it, but it's not bad. It is not a cutesy coat but in my opinion a sturdy work coat. I am glad I finally decided to make this purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5áby Eebie Why is it so darn short??
I don't know whether I should give this jacket five stars or one. I have had my eye on it at least since last year, and finally decided to buy it for this winter. I was really really really looking forward to having a lovely waxed cotton jacket with such trim style and LL Bean quality.
It is very stylish, warm with out being clammy and extremely well made. I wore it riding my bike on a very cold early morning, and it was simultaneously very warm but breathable. High quality materials and the pockets are lined with cozy fleece. My minor criticism is that I ordered the khaki color, which is a fantastic color, darker than the picture online, and the brown fleece lining the pockets and collar is a somewhat ugly color that does not compliment the waxed cotton. Same color would be better. Never the less, the pockets are great, the sleeves were fine in length...I loved it, but...
It is sooooo short!!! Granted I am tallish. 5'8" and 135 lb. I ordered the x small and it fit really well everywhere, except that it is at least 3 inches too short, and left my lower body feeling exposed. I tried to make it work, but I caught sight of myself a few times and realized it just looked absurd, like something that had shrunk in the wash. I would consider the next size up but even that is only 1/2 inch longer. So,sorry tall women, this jacket is not for us. I don't know why they can't make it normal length and make a petite size, or offer it in a tall size. So frustrating.
I would pay twice the price for this jacket if it fit me. But I had to send it back, alas.

Rated 4 out of 5áby WinterWimp Awesome coat - would like these improvements
I LOVE this jacket! I am in Ontario so our winters are COLD! I am a person who keeps my down douvet on the bed in summer. However, I can honestly say with a tank top and llbean fleece top under this coat in -25c with cold winds I am NOT cold! ("normal" people could probably just wear a long sleeve shirt and be fine.) I have used this coat out in the barn so much, I have worn the cotton down to a flat shiny surface. This will be the 5th year now, I think, that I have had it. Changes I would love to see... Even with the petite jacket ordered, the sleeves have to be rolled up for me. I would also like to see a real hood with possible fur trim. Because it is so trustworthy in the cold, a hood would make it great on those windy, blowing snow days rather than it going down the back with just a separate hat. If you are a person who wants a WARM coat, this is it. It is heavy, but I don't care. I'm warm in it and I have never been really warm in any other jacket before. Add a hood and shorten the sleeves and this is a 10 star coat! (I also have the matching vest although wearing both together would would be far too heavy and bulky I'm sure).

Rated 5 out of 5áby oaken best coat I've ever had
I first bought this waxed cotton down jacket when they first came out about 6 years ago. I quickly bought another one within the year fearing they would be discontinued. I am glad they are still offered as I constantly tell my friends. I think at least 5 of them plus one of my brothers have one and rave too.
I have worn wax jackets for many years but needed warmth too as I am a farmer and horsewoman and am constantly in the wet and cold during the winter. My life changed when I received this jacket all those years ago. It is lightweight (compared to the other canvas coats I used to wear) it is totally water and wind proof and much tougher than I imagined it would be. The original coat is still going strong but has holes here and there just from normal wear spots. I would feel lost in the winter without it. I ride in it, I work in it, I give it a sponge bath with cold water if it really needs it and just recently I found the best reproofing wax yet: Otter Wax. It is non-petroleum and fantastic. I recommend it when you need to reproof. These coats, to me, are the best thing ever offered from LL Bean. I buy the XS petite. The XS regular is too long in the arms for me but that isn't always a bad thing.

Rated 4 out of 5áby BattleRibbon Really liked it - but not for me!
Looked at this jacket in the catalog probably 5 or 6 times before I finally bit the bullet and ordered it. The style is great - much nicer than Men's. Got it - tried it on - XL fits pretty well and it seems very warm BUT it makes me look like a Linebacker! Tried it 3 separate times before I put it back in the box to return it. From the front it was OK - but from the back ... looked like Refrigerator Perry!

Rated 3 out of 5áby RAHatch Bulky and wide
I read others' reviews and was warned about the fit of this jacket but I gave it a try. The jacket is heavy, too wide and short, and the sleeves are too long. The down filling leaks through the brown waxed cotton making it look untidy. I returned it.

Rated 5 out of 5áby Marda64 Awesome Jacket
I bought this jacket with skeet and trap shooting in mind on our cold NY days. I also bought the khaki color with waterfowl and upland hunting in mind. And it was made for females, finally. It has not been as restrictive as my barbour. It has kept me warm and dry. Well the long sleeves everyone has been complaining about, I found have been great when lifting my arms to shoot. Other coats I have I had to put sport wristbands on to keep my wrists covered. Dog hair just brushes off. It is now my favorate coat and with the tailored style I have even worn it out to dinner. My only complaints are I wish it had the longer back like the mens and the zipper worked from the bottom. My male friends are now going to get the male version so they can shoot and stay as warm as me.
