Rated 2 out of 5áby BobMcK Sleeves way too long
This was a really nice style jacket but I've never seen an article of clothing mis-sized this badly. The sleeves were two inches too long yet the body and length of the jacket were perfect. I exchanged it for another jacket.

Great wax-impregnated cotton exterior, down-filled jacket. Tough. Water resistant. Warm. Relatively light weight.

Rated 3 out of 5áby Coolpop Attracts mold
This is added to my previous review which said how much I like this jacket - warm, lightweight and rugged.
Unfortunately there is a flaw. Due to the fabric texture and wax coating, the jacket attracts mold over the summer humid months, much more so than my other outerwear in the same closet. Since the coated fabric is not supposed to be laundered or drycleaned, getting the mold off involves tedious brushing in cold water, and it comes right back the next summer.
Due to this problem, I cannot recommend to anyone who lives in a climate with humid summers such as Western New England.

I read the reviews of others and while I was aware of the odor the jacket could have, it did not seem to be of great concern, I bought this at the store in Freeport and smelled the jacket but it didnt really seem strong.
When I hung it in my home office and closed the door overnight, the next day the whole room reeked of the oil/chemical odor from the wax. Not good, and my wife noticed it immediately.
I have a 2 or 3 year old waxed cotton field jacket w/blaze orange that doesnt smell nearly as strong...so I am quite disappointed.
Also the left lapel/collar is lazy and it lays down with the jacket unzipped. I like the collar to stand up against the wind.
Not sure I am going to keep it.
All this said, it is a very warm jacket and the materials seem of high quality that would wear well and last long.

Waxed Cotton Down Jacket
I had a jacket from LLBean. Wore it faithfully for 5 years until the shell started fraying and it began to look a little more used than I'd like so I ordered this one in January. It is warm, the temperature ratings don't lie, and the sleeves are long enough. I see reviews for other coats/jackets and size seems to be an issue. I found this a non-issue with this jacket. Plenty of room and comfortable too. One thing that took some getting used to; the weight. It is a heavy jacket and the weight felt uncomfortable at first but that has, too, has become a non-issue.

2 things changed would give this jacket 5 stars -
-Athletic cut, it's a little wide through the middle
-Double-zipper (unzip from the bottom, nice when you're sitting down in the car, etc.)
All in all, this jacket is great. I'm excited to see the durability next year at deer camp and during winter camping trips. It's VERY warm, just a t-shirt underneath is very comfortable in cold (20 or less) temps with a low level of activity. I also really like the lack of elastic cuffs, make getting in and out of the coat very easy and doesn't bug my wrist with a watch on.

This jacket is an outstanding value. Stitching and attention to detail in tailoring is excellent. Metal main zipper and snaps should hold up to extended wear I expect to get from fabric. Cargo pockets have snap closure that is mounted on fabric loop that really does allow to open and close pockets with one gloved hand. Fine grain fleece is used to line collar, draft flap, and hand warmer pockets. Hand warmer pockets (behind cargo pockets) are zippered as is the interior pocket. I am 5'9", 170lb., and wear 33-34" sleeve in a dress shirt. Large runs slightly big in lower body. Would prefer trimmer fit in mid-section, but ample room for sweater. Fits perfectly through shoulders. Sleeves hit at top of thumb, but I find this comfortable and great to keep drafts out of sleeves. Also, sleeves don't ride up over gloves when reaching with arms. Bought this to take to western Canada goose hunting and have worn it all the way through January season-end on large mid-west rivers running open boats in teens. Very warm. Think this one is going to hold up to long, hard use that would shred a rip-stop nylon puffy. A heavier coat than some of the synthetics, but surprisingly does not interfere with shotgun mount and swing. Packs into smaller (1 foot by 8 inches approx) stuff sack. Exceptional quality at a great price.

Rated 5 out of 5áby LotusJones Great Value - Beware of sizing.
I've had this coat a little over a year. I love it. Very Very Warm - it doesn't come out til winter is in full swing up here. I use it for farm chores where I need a warmth and a durable outer shell. Haven't had it in rain but sheds snow easily. I don't think it's too oily or smells at all. Does pick up a little dust/hay but brushes right off. Seems to be gaining character quickly, but all the seams and stitching are still strong. Highest quality I've had from LLBean in a long time. If this was made in USA it'd cost twice as much and still be worth it.
Funky sizing though: I'm 5'9 and #150 w/ a 38" chest and 34" sleeves. I got a Small and it's still big in the chest. It layers well over a sweater. The sleeves cover the backs of my hands but I like it that way (no drafts). The tail is a bit long for sitting in the truck (rides up), but perfect out in the weather. Hope that helps.

Rated 3 out of 5áby MrMrsNoah Sleeves are too long.
I purchased the jacket in XL for my husband but returned it as the sleeves were about 5-6 inches too long. When I ordered the next size down (L), the sleeves were at his knuckles. My husband has to roll up the sleeves, even though he does have, in my opinion, long arms.
