It's warn, well made and will protect you from the rain and snow, certainly. If you're short it's definitely the right style--i.e. complementing. No, it's not made in England like other popular waxed cotton companies but it's a third of the price. However, I'm not keeping this color because you call it "loren" but" I and two other people in my house call it "black." I wanted loden and loden is dark green.

I love the jacket. Only negatives are color is almost black and sleeves are a bit long. Good quality as expected. I recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Michiganric Dead of winter
I bought this for the dead of winter. All I can comment on right now is the fit. I am 5'10" And 235 pound. I will use it for walking the dog . It has front pocket for gloves,
and other necessary items. The roomyness is great. Being a retired Letter Carrier, I know you need to have enough room for the jacket to breath. It is a heavy jacket and appears as if it will a very warm garment.

Rated 2 out of 5 by DoctorCoolpop Fatal flaw - attracts mold
I loved this jacket when I got it - lightweight and extremely comfortable and warm. However, it has a fatal flaw. I live in W Mass where summers can be quite humid. The waxed cotton seems to be the perfect surface to attract mold and it's very tedious to clean it off with sponge and bleach solution. Sadly, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who does not live in a very dry climate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Tbuster Waxed Cotton Down Jacket
I have just put this jacket through one of the most severe winters Pa. has seen in a long time. Sub zero temps. and wind, blowing snow and sleet weeks on end. I spent a lot of time on a open tractor blowing snow and hauling wood. This jacket kept me toasty warm and dry through it all. It is very durable and dependable for long hours spent outside in severe weather. I have one for work and one for casual and all around wear. These jackets are my go to when the weather turns bad.

This is a great warm coat. It is a little heavier than the jackets with the nylon shell, but because of the cotton your purse doesn't slip off your shoulder like it does with the nylon. The only thing I wish it had was one of those "double" type zippers so that you can have the top zipped up and open the bottom part of the jacket if you want to. That's why I gave it the four stars instead of five. I love that it has the snaps on the flap that covers the zipper, since most of the time that's all I use and velcro just doesn't work as well. I am very happy with my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MHNC Toasty in N.C.
got this jacket just in time for a state-wide snow storm in North Carolina. I am very pleased. Temps are in the teens here and this jacket has kept me dry and toasty while playing and working in the snow. Just wearing a polyester under garment shirt. I am a woman, 5'9'', 170 pounds. I bought the men's medium because I have wide shoulders and I wanted the longer material in the back. It is a perfect fit except for the sleeves, which are a couple inches too long. I was expecting that, so no problem for me. I just fold the cuffs up. I highly recommend this jacket!

I had no idea that the jacket cannot be machine washed or dry cleaned until after I bought it (though the cashier tried to tell me). I had thoughts of taking it back after discovering the potential need of reproofing the coat on a yearly basis. However, I like the waxed cotton look and feel. The sleeves are super long which is good for me as I climb trees and am very active in the woods. The jacket is also smokin' hot even on a breezy 20 degree day. I think I will keep it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by OSOK My Cold Weather Go-To Jacket!
This jacket has become my "go-to" jacket in any cold/windy weather. I wanted a jacket that gives me the option of bundling up around my neck but I didn't want a hood because I don't like the bulkiness that a hood would bring on days I didn't need a hood. I just wear a knit hat when need be and I never get cold with this jacket. It is super comfortable and warm yet it never makes me feel restricted. It has lined side pockets that I can easily slip my hands into to keep them warm and the front, snap pockets that you can see in the pics in which I keep a pair of gloves just in case. The weather resistant liner makes it a home run and has paid off time after time!
