Rated 5 out of 5áby GardenStateGuy Everything I wanted
I've only had it for a couple of weeks, but I am wearing it all the time. I love waxed cotton - I have several such jackets - but none are insulated. This jacket is very warm and fits well. The drawcord on the waist is a good touch on windy days. I wore it in a downpour and it kept me dry without dampening the down. Although some say the sleeves are too long, they don't seem that way to me (I wear 33 inch sleeves on dress shirts. It does seem something of a dust magnet but not alarmingly so. It is a little too warm for temperatures above the high 40s. Heavier than a conventional down jacket. All in all, a wonderful product that will get me through the worst winter storms.

Very nice jacket. They do run a little on the big size so problem with layering under it.

Rated 5 out of 5áby SheepdogPat This Coat Makes Wicked Good a Reality
I'm a sixty year old curmudgeon duck and deer hunter. I also have a micro dairy with Jersey Cows. I was looking for a cold weather coat that wouldn't have plastic zipper failure in one or two years or have an easily torn nylon shell. Yes the wax cotton weighs more, but it stops the wind and keeps out the moisture whether on the tractor or in the deer stand. Last Monday morning I sat for deer with the wind chill in the teens. Weather didn't shorten the hunt. Was so comfy I could have had a nice nap. Its not the right coat for upland hunting, but for what I do, great. Really good double seams where needed too. The zipper is metal and smooth as silk. Some of the reviews I read said roomy enough for a sweater underneath. I'm 6'1" and about 235. The sweater is not an option, but as warm as the coat is I can't imagine needing it. This is the first time I've bothered to write a review for a product, but the coat is as good as I like to think they were years ago.

Rated 5 out of 5áby BumppoPA Well made, Warm, Great Value!
I purchased this in the chocolate brown color, medium. Fits well, 5'7" 170 pounds, broad, and it's not tight at all. This is a very warm jacket, great pockets (the bellows pockets seem to be lined with a rubber material), handwarmer pockets are very warm. I have 2 other waxed jackets/coats from Barbour which are probably more stylish, but at 2X-3X the price, I am careful not to beat on. This is my go to coat now for winter activities at the range, yard work, etc. So far it has held up very well to abuse. It's very comfortable, even for driving and it's a great value. Not sure how I would improve this.
The order came in just a few days. You can't beat LLbean!

Rated 5 out of 5áby wardrover Tough and Warm
This has been my primary winter jacket for the last ten winters in New England and Scotland. It's really tough and extremely warm. The waxed cotton does a great job deflecting rain and melting snow. After a decade of regular use I'm finally sending it to be re-treated this season. The cuffs are a little nicked but it will easily last another decade. I have only two complaints: I wish it had a hood and the suede collar can get a little musty if it isn't cleaned occasionally (especially after some vigorous snow-shoveling). Otherwise, just a great coat.

Rated 5 out of 5áby MHNC Still Pleased
bought the Loden color in size Medium last year. I am a woman, 5'10" and 170 lbs. This jacket continues to exceed my expectations. As some other reviewers have noted, the sleeves are a bit too long. I just roll up the cuffs one time and length is perfect. I just dragged it out of the closet and jacket still smells new. No musty, etc, smells. I had intended to send it to New England Reproofers at end of last season but found I didn't need to. Just wiping jacket with damp cloth was all I needed. I don't know when this jacket will wear out cause it seems so durable but I hope LL Bean never stops making it. When this one wears out, I will order another one ASAP!

Rated 4 out of 5áby billyburgbuddy Great Black coat
It's warn, well made and will protect you from the rain and snow, certainly. If you're short it's definitely the right style--i.e. complementing. No, it's not made in England like other popular waxed cotton companies but it's a third of the price. However, I'm not keeping this color because you call it "loren" but" I and two other people in my house call it "black." I wanted loden and loden is dark green.

Rated 5 out of 5áby Michiganric Dead of winter
I bought this for the dead of winter. All I can comment on right now is the fit. I am 5'10" And 235 pound. I will use it for walking the dog . It has front pocket for gloves,
and other necessary items. The roomyness is great. Being a retired Letter Carrier, I know you need to have enough room for the jacket to breath. It is a heavy jacket and appears as if it will a very warm garment.
