The pants are a little loud when walking as the reason for only 4 stars. With that aside very comfortable and warm

I have now had these pants for about one year and I really like them a lot particularly on a windy cold day, it stops the wind nearly completely.
The down side to these pants are they are a bit noisy and are prone to rips around the knee area. My pants got a three cornered tear just below the cargo pocket from a stick that was on a dead spruce top. A lot of the areas that I hunt in have been logged extensively so having downed tree material is fairly common. These pans would be a lot better if the knee area was reinforced or the material was a bit heavier to resist these kinds of tears.

These pants are incredibly warm and comfortable. They are my new favorites for hikes in freezing temperatures. I appreciate the fleece-lined pockets; and the fit provides room for thermals if needed. At temperatures above freezing with high activity, these pants can be too warm - it's hard to be cold in these pants. Although the sound from the lining is noticeable indoors, it is not noticeable outside.

by TheTallSwede So Warm and Dry
These pants took me hiking through the White Mountains and skiing Sunday River for two winters in a row (previously had the unlined, 4-pocket). I trudged through puddles only to get to -50 degF (after wind) peaks with no issue. I would hang them up at night, put them on still half frozen in the morning, and was warm within seconds. The liner is a huge boost not only for wind protection, but comfort. No more rough wool on bare skin. To top it off, they wash just fine. No shrinking or loss of warmth yet.

I had an old pair of L.L Bean Canada Grey wool pants and could not kill them in over twenty years. The moths finally did. Vermont and NYS late deer seasons are very cold ,wet and windy and I plan on using these pants for many years to come. Dense wool is quiet, warm, sheds water and fights oder natuarlly. A perfect mix for hunting clothing and winter hiking/snowshoeing. Its good to see that Bean still offers this type of gear at a fair price in the era of synthetics.

This is a very well built pair of woolies. I wanted to keep them only they are cut very wide from the waist to the boot. Most woolies are cut large but this pair was really large cut. I returned them. So sad...

My husband wanted to have these pants, as we had bought a similar
pair for his father many years ago.
He LOVES these! Warm and stylish and comfortable, as they are lined.

These are obviously high quality pants-heavy wool and guaranteed waterproof! I like the fit- loose enough for hiking but not baggy, and it's not often you find wool pants with cargo pockets. Really satisfied with these.

overall i am satisfied. One downside is that these pants are noisy when stalking deer. I would only recommend for 'stand' hunting in cold weather.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Yotey Bought as a women..
LL Bean comes up short in women's gear, but I was able to size these pants to fit. I work as a field biologist, so I need winter gear that is quiet and functional. Even though they fit, the proportions look a bit odd on me because the thigh pocket comes to my knees. Otherwise they fit alright.
These pants are a bit loud for wildlife work, but they are warm and block the wind for standing out in the cold, ice fishing or on the snowmobile. Over all they are high quality, but there is a tradeoff for the liner.
