Rated 1 out of 5 by fatpigbrand These pants are not for hunting.
Good pants in general BUT big problem is everybody say that noisy liner inside the pants. And its not fully attached to the pants itself what makes it easy to rip and wear it out . The liner should be one part with the pants and not two separated pieces.
Maybe that is why it makes noise due to this issue. LL Bean you should make wind proof fabric built inside the wool pants so the liner stays inside the wool fabric as one piece and not a two separate pieces.
Lastly those buttons are weak and feels like they gonna fall out
after any time soon. You guys charging $179 for these pants and you can not even sawing it good ? Come on LL bean give me a break and make those buttons strong to the fabric so they won't fall out .
I am going to return these pants and stick with regular wool 2 pocket pants. I can always wear base layer underneath those 2 pocket pants. LL Bean make those pants without stupid liner with six pockets or improve liner and make it to built in as one piece of fabric .
One or another but do something about those pants. Many people are not happy can't you see it ?

Strong wind resistance and five cold stars if long lasting.

They certainly do the job. There is the sound of the windproofing material while you walk. I did have an issue with them though. When I received them I found the corner of the flap of the left cargo pocket was sewn through the left lap pocket. They're good to go.

Although these pants are cozy and comfortable, they are too noisy if you need to be stealthy. Please bring back the 6-pocket wool hunting pants w/o Windstopper.

I bought these pants a few years ago and I will agree they are warm and windproof, however the main reason I ordered wool hunting pants is because they are supposed to be quiet. In trying to keep these pants windproof they lined them with potato chips. They are great for sitting in a stand but terrible for still hunting, really noisy. I wore them on the 1st day of a hunt in British Columbia and the guide told me to not wear them again on that hunt.

The pants are a little loud when walking as the reason for only 4 stars. With that aside very comfortable and warm

I have now had these pants for about one year and I really like them a lot particularly on a windy cold day, it stops the wind nearly completely.
The down side to these pants are they are a bit noisy and are prone to rips around the knee area. My pants got a three cornered tear just below the cargo pocket from a stick that was on a dead spruce top. A lot of the areas that I hunt in have been logged extensively so having downed tree material is fairly common. These pans would be a lot better if the knee area was reinforced or the material was a bit heavier to resist these kinds of tears.

These pants are incredibly warm and comfortable. They are my new favorites for hikes in freezing temperatures. I appreciate the fleece-lined pockets; and the fit provides room for thermals if needed. At temperatures above freezing with high activity, these pants can be too warm - it's hard to be cold in these pants. Although the sound from the lining is noticeable indoors, it is not noticeable outside.
