I waited for years before investing in these. I wish I hadn't because I could have been all nestled in red longjohn warmth earlier than now. But I finally made the purchase, and they are great! I sleep in them and layer them when it is super cold. They are a welcome addition to my cold weather gear!

Rated 5 out of 5 by beananllbeanerr4ever ahhhhh, old fashioned union suit in new fabric
This is fabulous; I bought the heather pink and it is a pretty color. Not that color matters; it's underwear after all. But I bought this to use as international travel jammies. I leave tomorrow for cold Brussels and will be glad to snoodle up in bed in this. Even nice hotels aren't warm enough in Europe. The thing that caught me by surprise is the functional split hiney with a button closure. I have had union suits before - and these split bums really don't work for potty breaks for women. I will probably sew it shut when I get home and restyle it in the back - and cut out the extra fabric (I can sew so this will be easy to do; it would be okay if I couldn't but I can, so I will!). The fit is great, the fabric is two layers and soft next to my skin, the best part? Ankle and wrist cuffs so they won't ride up when sleeping! All real jammies should have these. I am so glad Bean is offering these. Oh, one more thing - they aren't really super bulky so they fit in my carry on without taking up too much space. I guess the best part is if it is really, really cold outside I could also wear them as real long underwear during the day, which is their original purpose. I have lighter weight LJs for that, though.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Wynter Ugly color and buttons
The pink color was .. off. There is no other word for it. Some pinks are lovely and some are not. In addition, the suit's buttons were ugly, too, ugly color and too big for the suit. I think LL Bean needs to hire designers who pay attention to the manufacturing details. Pink is not pink is not pink. The devil is in the details.

Rated 5 out of 5 by StellasMom Awesome! Wonderfully warm! True to size!
I bought these for my 11 year old daughter. She is 5 ft tall and 100 lbs. there is a little grow room, but not too much. I had to explain the 'trap' door. It seems more of a historical nod than really functional. I may just sew it closed. They have laundered beautifully. I am very happy with these PJ's!

Rated 2 out of 5 by Woolsocker Unbuttons too easily!
While wearing this item the buttons unbuttoned constantly so I had to rebutton parts of it every time I stood up or sat down. And having the "separation part" on the private area constantly open was a bother to say the least. On a good note, it is extremely warm which I was very happy with! But the next minute it would come unbuttoned and the cool draft would come in on your chest and then a cool draft would come in the other way and cool down other areas... I had wanted on of these for years and when I finally relented to pay the high price, and for the warmth it's worth it, I was very unhappy with the construction. Returning it and will not replace with the same item.

Rated 4 out of 5 Warm
This is so warm and comfortable! It falls short of 5-star rating due to it being just a tad too short in the body. Not uncomfortably short, but enough that I don't want to wear it all the time. The spread-apart slit in the back is okay but not my favorite design. I think I'd rather have a flap.

Now in it's 5th year, I live in the suit most winters. Was a gift in size large and I'm a fluctuating size 6-10 so it fit HUGE at first. However, I have since methodically shrunk it to fit snug in the arms and, albeit a little short in the legs, if right out of the dryer. Now I will likely hang it to dry the remainder of it's life. It is warm without feeling weighty, and it's itch free for realz. Those who felt it was rough, c'mon ppl, lower your expectations and launder. After only a few washings, the fabric softened nicely yet the fabric kept it's integrity, which isn't often the case. I am never cold or chilled and have been able to lower my thermostat at night sleeping under primaloft blanket wearing only this. For doggy walks, or low aerobic activities, this suit warms well, for higher aerobics, like skiing, or frigid runs/cycling, you do not need much more than a wind layer to keep you perfectly content - all without the midsection gap chill, so motion is never restricted by cold breezes. One layer warmth with no exposed skin or tummy means nice neat top layers too. I will don a thin wool tank or henley on coldest of cold (below 0-15) but even if just slouching on the couch, I never want to take it off. Would be a 5-star rating if only the button flap were effective. Didn't read all the way through the description of this latest version, so maybe it has improved. But my version, the flap has one lonely button to keep a rather enormous flap closed. This was poorly conceived as the only way to secure a rather large, chill producing area of the suit and from day one, it has never sealed correctly - or without gaps/window to the goods. Now in it's 5th yr and not a hole or frayed seam to be found, I'm ready to bring it to the seamstress for alteration of this flap...snaps perhaps? Whether lounging or cross country skiing, this is an LLB high quality piece which I consider a lifetime investment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by GardenBirdDog Women's Union Suit
Gave one as a gift to a family member who is always cold. She LOVED it so much, not wanting to take it off when at home, that we quickly gifted her with a second suit in a different color!
PS, her young granddaughter was so enamored of Grandma's special suit that we got her a matching one.

This is my first women's union suit and I am very happy with the way it fits and feels. I've had men's union suits from LLBean before and loved them but this version fits my slender frame perfectly without being baggy, bunchy or tight. I chose the pink heather color and I love it. I wear this suit around the house and then slide some jeans on over it to go outside. I recommend the union suit for lounging and outdoor activities.
