Rated 4 out of 5 by buyertalk Durable
Wore this shirt first time steelhead fishing for 4 cold days in March 2014 (temperature in 30's F or lower with windchill). Part of my cold weather layering system. Shirt is heavier than other fishing shirts I have therefore appears to be more durable. Appears like shirt will be a good all seasons shirt for fishing year round.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Traveler1a Material great - Design flawed
Please, please, please make the pockets bigger! I've worn these for years because the material is superb but the design needs to improve and we need more colors! Square and enlarge the pockets and the pocket flaps and do away with the silly epaulettes. I cut them off anyway. Make it in a nice yellow and lighter summer colors and I'll buy more of them.

Very comfortable (I'm wearing it now), and quite stylish too!
I'd definitely buy more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by OmahaScott Perfect Poplin Field Shirt-bought two!
Couldn't be happier with this shirt. Had to replace a field shirt I had owned for 20 years and was having a tough time finding one that looked as good and I could have confidence in providing long service. This one is perfect...fits great, material is beautiful, and best of all it comes from LL Bean. Matter of fact, it was so good I bought the short sleeve as well and another long sleeve in green. I'm set for a while and couldn't be happier. What more could you want? Great shirt, great company, great combination...

Bring back the taupe colored shirt of years gone by. One of my favorite shirts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by woodfluter Better than ever
Background: I had four of these shirts and recently recieved two more.
I'm a bit confused by some of the comments I've read here. For example: a couple said the medium shirt was too, large, had to be taken in by a tailor etc..while another said the sleeves are too tight. Mine fit just right. You want enough room to move, not so much that it hangs on you or sleeves are too long. They got sizing right IMO.
Also, some complained the pockets had been changed and were too small - to hold pens!. Mine are exactly the same size as those I ordered years ago. I use a pen clip, but any of my writing instruments could easily disappear under the flap. Pockets measure 5-1/2" deep. By the way, there's no "silly pocket on the sleeve" - not on any I've had.
Nor have I experienced button breakage on any of mine. They've seen hard use.
So, the latest two have some small improvements. Even after laundering, they seem more wrinkle-resistant than older versions. The pocket flaps have been slightly stiffened - don't know how, but it's not excessive and I like it. As before, the fabric is not heavy but tightly-woven, making it very versatile. Tight enough to be moderately mosquito deflective. Not cheap but worth the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Miklon Very nice shirt, easy care and very comfortable
I have been looking for a long time for long sleeve shirts in a solid color such as khaki and OD green that had a "military" appearance. This shirt fit the bill perfectly. It is neat, fits well, is not too heavy and thus can be worn in the Summer (long sleeves protect from the sun) and can be a work shirt or worn out to dinner. Great shirt. I bought two, and plan to by at least four more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Dropbear Best classic safari shirt, too baggy
A timeless classic with few competitors. If you was the genuine vintage touches like epaulettes, this is the only quality option. I have both colours now.
My only complaint is that it is cut far too big. I had to spend $40 at the tailors to get each shirt altered to fit. I'm usually a size 40" chest and 6' tall yet the Medium hung like a tent on me. I guess I could have tried a small, though that might have been too tight in the shoulders.
