It is a fine walking stick, and a good monopod for my camera. I recommend it as a multipurpose tool. I had to go on line to set it up. The instructions that came with the staff were inadequate for a first time user.

I used the pole this weekend on an Audubon birder's hike. My camera screwed on the top easily. The rubber tip was removed quickly and I had good purchase with the metal tip on the uneven terrain we were walking. It was a quality item that I expect to have many years of use with. My next trek is in the Rockies later this month.
I would suggest that it might be good idea to have a small bag attached to the pole to put the knob and the rubber tip into. Just the pull string type would eliminate dropping them on the trail.

I purchased this product to assist me after surgery. The locking system is strong, I was surprised. I will probably use all the time when I am in uneven terrain. There is a slight rattle, but it is not annoying. Well built product for the price.

This staff is a good aid when climbing down a mountain and is also great to have along to help steady my camera to take a shot of nature. The knob on top twists off so my camera can screw on. The height of the staff can be changed easily also.

I have two of these poles. A friend and I took Gondola to Mount Mansfield where we climbed to top and tooked the Long Trail down which is steep and rocky. My friend and I each used a pole and they were excellent companions for helping us along the way. Bad boots for me (not LL Bean) and bad knees for my friend. The adjustable staffs held up to our weight (both over 200) and the tips gave us secure placement as we descended 2200 feet in a little over two miles. We both agreed that these staffs were invaluable and exceeded all expectations... Scratched, scuffed and muddied these poles have earned a place in all future hikes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Grummy Panorama Trekker's Pack Staff
Have only used this Panorama Trekker's Pack Staff for a couple weeks but find it a valuable "friend" when walking about on sloped ground. I have an equilibrium problem and the staff provides the feel of being connected to my surroundings, allowing more normal gait and steadiness. I weigh 185 pounds and it is very sturdy and yet flexible. As an avid outdoor photographer I find the monopod aspect very handy. Overall, a quality and useful product that I had been searching for...and now own!! The staff offers great value for anyone traveling as I do in Maine and other areas besides my home turf on Long Island, NY. Great product and highly recommend to others.
